ASUS RT-N16 四大韌體效能PK

自 ASUS RT-N16 推出以來,採用 Broadcom 旗下 BCM 4718 晶片,這家晶片在過去被許多第三方韌體組織廣泛支援,加上原廠韌體穩定性一直保有很大的改善空間,使得向來潛藏的第三方韌體更加活絡起來。所以當 ASUS RT-N16 推出不到半年,市場上已經出現三套能直接支援 ASUS RT-N16 的第三方韌體。



而各家韌體皆有其專精獨到之處,例如 DD-WRT 內建支援多國語言,強調友善的管理介面。Tomato(teddy bear mod) 著重在 USB 介面及 QoS 的支援,在台灣很多死忠粉絲。LLY 則延續了老牌 Oleg 韌體的香火,提供網友一個簡單而直覺的改機環境。一般網友大多只能根據網路上討論來決定是否該刷韌體或該刷哪一家韌體,本文不詳細評論各家優劣,我們只針對網路傳輸效能部分做測試,希望此舉也能印證在同樣的硬體下,搭配不同的韌體對效能的影響程度,提供網友日後改機參考。

下圖是將各項測試數據整理後,所產生的圖表,我們可以很明確看得出來 ASUS 原廠韌體的 NAT 效能像是擁有獨家祕技似的,大幅領先其他家韌體,不過在 WLAN 部分的效能卻只能稱作笑能,把 N 當 G 用,明顯落後其他韌體。其他第三方韌體 LLY、DD-WRT 及 Tomato 或許少了 Broadcom 直接傳授的獨家密技,各項數據表現都在伯仲之間,相較之下,LLY 韌體各項效能表現穩定領先,以綜合各項效能的評估是較值得推薦的韌體。

在同樣環境下,我把 Eee BOX 換成另外一台 QNAP TS-419U NAS 結果就截然不同了,數據顯示幾乎是原來的兩倍,過去測試 LAN to LAN 效能明顯偏低,這結果跟主機硬體效能很有絕對關係,看來 RT-N16 只能怪自家的 Eee BOX 不爭氣啊。

即使上下載速度都不高,但連線數超多
常使其他電腦連開網頁都慢到不行
所以想順便升級無線分享器

請問目前QOS功能是以每個IP來管理
或可以限制連線數

以上有韌體可以解決這個問題?
DDWRT會開啟封印,不過個人PC還是設定一下連線數比較好

千元等級的設備連線數還是頂不了太久,高階的比較有辦法

因為只用過 Tomato,所以提供 Tomato 的用法:它只能限制 IP/MAC 的優先權以及流量,無法限制連線數。但是只要 PC 端的程式沒有把所有的連線數吃光(板大之前曾經將 RT-N16 的連線數拉大到 30000 個),Tomato 的作法應該對你的使用情形有幫助。

RT-N16可以刷這裡提供的韌體,基本上這是拿Tomato改的


請教大家一個問題:之前在 teddy bear 的原始討論串中,有網友提到 Beta15 在使用 N-Only 的無線設定時,Channel width 只有 20MHz,因此 Teddy Bear 釋出了 Beta16 來解決這個問題。今天,我也把機子刷成了 Beta16,也將無線連線模式設定成 N-Only,但是我的 client 端連線時(使用 ASUS USB-N13),連線速度卻被限制在 136Mb,而不是一般常見的 270Mb;如果再把無線連線模式設定成 auto,他又回復成 270Mb。

在實際下載測試流量的過程,我發現兩種設定的方式,對於下載的流量並沒有太大的改變,不知道這是否正常?有沒有大大也有類似的情形?
