Toshiba is also good but be careful that sometimes for cheaper price, they will change the warranty from 3 year to 1 year.
Bottom line is, if you are travelling that far, you should take a look at after-service (warranty length, nearest repair center from where you live, repair terms etc.) Don't spend too much time on specifications. You're going to school, not a gaming exhibition. Getting your homework done on that notebook should be your first priority.
As for civicwei's situation, my recommendation is go to ASUS, HP, DELL, TOSHIBA Australia website and take a look at service webpage. See who has a repair center (or pickup service) nearest your school to start.
