I found that there are many bundle softwares installed in the PDA when I first power on the device.
After installing all the bundle software, I found that the memory (RAM) left is just 20.69 MB, which may be not enough for video playing.
Can you explain what function / purpose of the below listed software for ?
As I decide to remove / uninstall some of the seldom used software.
Or can you advice how to release the RAM ?

關於WM的核心OS:WinCE
它不是一個專為手機而生的Embedded RTOS...
它的應用甚至不止在PDA...
舉些例子...PMP, TV-Box, PDA, PDA Phone, Smartphone, PND...etc...
只要是想得到需要RTOS的Device...用的CPU又在WinCE支援的list裡的...都可以用...
(WinCE不是只有support ARM, 只是大部份做ARM CPU的廠商都以提供WinCE BSP為賣點)
對Design端來說 它把很多原本需要另外找solution的麻煩東東都包進來了
不用再想辦法去license...付廠商NRE...抽Royalty...
舉凡最令人頭痛的:字型, codec
另外...應用程式(AP) 在情況允許下...只要改換另一套SDK, UI做些小幅度修改
就可以跨平台使用
比如同一套AP...依照這樣的做法 可以很快的產生for PPC和for Smartphone的版本
這大概也是為什麼支援WinCE的AP可以瞬間就超越Palm...等等其它OS...
當然MS在x86 OS的影響力也有關係啦...design介面長的很像...開發者一下就可以上手...
去看看大陸的AP下載網站吧...支援CE的AP數量大概都是其它手機OS(Symbian...Symbian UIQ...etc...)的幾十倍...
P.S 不管是video, photo還是audio的codec都麻煩的要命...每個patent都要付一堆$$給那群吸血的專利蟑螂
大家知道為什麼常常買到顯示檔名或TAG是亂碼的機器嗎?因為字型很貴!!!
很多小東西 看在End User裡可能覺得是小東西 很便宜 為什麼做不到? 但其實那是最浪費錢的部份!!!
這樣把很多東西都包進來的做法
好處是省去了這些麻煩事, 但同時也讓整個系統變得肥胖無比...
說完了WinCE
再來談談WM的前身...Pocket PC Phone和Pocket PC
其實Pocket PC Phone算是半路出家
是以Pocket PC為基礎 加上簡單的Phone功能的東西
就像之前有人問...以他的需求 該買Smartphone還是PPC Phone?
有人回答...PDA功能用的比例多就選PPC Phone, Phone用的多就選Smartphone的道理是一樣的
不過可能微軟也沒想到PPC Phone的成長會那麼快速, User對Phone功能的要求會這麼高...
所以到了後期 像Eten, Asus這類廠商就會包很多他們自己客製化的軟體進去...
但其實這樣的做法才是對的...那個廠牌會希望大家的手機介面都一樣...長得差不多?

我確實了 ETEN X800 是可以支援通話中錄音的。在通話中按 "記事" ，然後啟動錄音，就是這樣簡單。
請緊記在錄音過程中不要調校音量，否則錄音會被中斷。
但收錄的通話音量不是很大，但雙方的通話錄音的音量差不多，不會對方的聲音比自己的小很多很多
我會將收錄了的通話 e-mail 給你。
X800 is a very good PDA phone, I like the VGA display very much, with the drawback of relatively high power consumption and RAM usage.
The 64 MB RAM is not quite enough, I have uninstalled some of the bundle ETEN software, includes
1) Eten Backup Utility 3.2
2) ETEN AddRingtone 1.0
3) Eten Location SMS
I seldom use the above stated software, so I decided to uninstall them
I have uninstalled the SPB mobile shell also, it can release 1 - 1.5 MB RAM

請問 ETEN glofiish X800 有支援 通話中錄音嗎？已經拿到實機的同好能否幫忙測試一下？小弟所謂的通話錄音，係指在手機通話時，按下錄音鍵（或叫出記事本的錄音功能），對通話進行雙向錄音。其前提是不能開啟喇叭擴音功能。
並不是很多手機有支援通話中錄音，譬如 O2 Atom Life, AnexTEK SP230, 都可把通話雙方的聲音錄得很清楚且兩人音量大小相當，我將之歸類為支援通話中錄音。而 CHT (DOPOD) 9110, 通話錄音時，錄到對方的聲音雖然可聽得到，但對方的聲音比自己的小很多很多。而 DOPOD 818 錄下來的對話，幾乎聽不到對方的聲音。雖然利用擴音方式可解決上述問題，總是有很多的不方便。
如果X800 有支援 通話錄音的功能，我就加入大家的行列。
