Nikon IFA

On the issue regarding to VR. Like Canon's IS, Nikon is committed to VR technology. Thom Hogan on his trip to visit Nikon's booth and engineers and learned that VR is what they will keep developing. Nikon and Canon have presentations on why VR and IS is better than sensor stabilization, especially on big lenses.

I think many of us here know this already.

However, Nikon indicated there is a possibility that lower end DSLR may get sensor stabilization in the future. 1. lower end Nikons tend to use Sony sensors and Sony is having those features built in. 2. typical consumers does not use tripod, buy light and cheap lenses (no VR), and don't know how to hold camera steady.

Low end Nikon with sensor stabilization is not an official announcement, just what Thom Hogan learned by talking with Nikon booth personnel.
