TORONTO - Toyota Canada says its February sales increased by 24 per cent compared to a year earlier, despite a huge worldwide recall of its products.
The automaker says it sold about 11,700 vehicles last month, with car sales up 13 per cent and truck sales up 45 per cent. Meanwhile, Toyota's luxury Lexus division saw its best February ever, with sales up 26 per cent from a year earlier.
Toyota recalled 270,000 vehicles in Canada due to a defect that caused the accelerator pedal to stick.
Meanwhile, Ford Canada says its sales increased by 51 per cent compared to February 2009, marking its ninth consecutive month of improvements.
