Just go take a look at a RAV4 or Highlander.

But it's not Symmetrical AWD.... it's not gonna fit.

I don't know where you heard it from, but I don't believe Subaru will use non-symmetrical AWD to their cars(especially for their flagship: Legacy) and with VVT-i(what's the purpose of that? they already have AVCS) unless both Subaru(FHI) and Toyota are crazy.

Subaru will lose its roots if they abandon those key technologies, which sounds insane to me.

Remember, Toyota doesn't own Subaru. FHI owns Subaru.

Toyota Camry Chassis+ toyota Full Time All Wheel Drive= Toyobaru= NO SOUL

Subaru= BOXER Engine+ Symmetrical AWD. It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.

Just last week Toyota announced that it has increased its ownership in Subaru to over 16% and if eventually Toyota takes controlling share and when that happens neither Subaru or FHI will be in charge of Subaru.

Toyota is the most successful car company because it knows how to "maximize" profit on every vehicle it makes and sells and the only way to achieve this is to "invest less in car development" and "charge customer more money"

Wrong! 2 weeks ago this has been discussed all over the place in nasioc.com and I've already know that.

"Toyota Motor Corp. intends to boost its stake in Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. from 8.7 percent to about 17 percent, according to Bloomberg."

Does that mean Legacy will use Camry chassis? Where did you see it?
How can you make boxer engine and symmetrical AWD fit into Camry chassis?
And FYI, the next gen Legacy will use Tribeca chassis.

BTW, here are some interesting news from nasioc.com:

Toyota, Daihatsu, FHI Deepen R&D and Product-supply Ties

Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC), DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD. (Daihatsu) and FUJI HEAVY INDUSTRIES LTD. (FHI) announced today that they have agreed to expand their cooperative ties with new arrangements related to research and development and product supply.

Specifically, the three companies—aiming to strengthen their competitiveness by achieving mutual synergies through the apt application of each company's technological know-how—decided that:
1. TMC and FHI are to jointly develop a compact rear-wheel-drive sports car that will be marketed by both TMC and FHI.
2. TMC is to provide FHI with a compact car on an original-equipment-manufacturing (OEM) basis.
3. Daihatsu is to supply FHI with minivehicles and an FHI version of the Daihatsu "Coo" compact car on an OEM basis.

Mori said that with Toyota's help, the company plans to focus its resources on developing "sporty" cars that were not necessarily sports cars.

"We going to focus on doing what we do well," he said. "Toyota doesn't have those sort of cars at the moment and I believe we can find our niche in the group that way."

Mori said that he also hoped to gain access to advanced technology from Toyota.

He added that he did not expect Toyota to be interested in raising its holding in Fuji Heavy further and that Fuji Heavy would not need a further capital injection.

"We are comfortable with the level we've got now," he said.

Mori's perspective (FHI President) -

--- On goal of further tie-up with Toyota
We want to get full benefits out of the alliance so that we can focus on what our company does well.

--- On Subaru's role
Toyota is the all-around player, Hino Motors represent trucks, Daihatsu does kei-cars, so to see how well we can progress in making sporty cars is the direction into which I think we must head. Toyota doesn't have such cars, so within the group I think it's feasible for our company to take that role.

--- On possibility of Toyota further investing in FHI
We don't plan on throwing all our resources into Toyota. We want to work on joint development projects while improving our brand. So the investment level now is very comfortable.

--- On overseas markets
We can still increase sales in North America. We also have room for growth in emerging nations, such as Russia and China.

--- On the unfavorable Yen-Dollar exchange rate
A simple calculation certainly of the exchange rate impact shows that it may lower our profits 300 billion yen. We can only work hard so that doesn't happen. Units sales will undoubtedly increase. The problem is the need for more production capacity, for which we will sequentially increase capacity domestically.

Other info:
1. FHI will sequentially withdraw from kei-car manufacturing to focus on strengthening their core strengths, such as their boxer engine.
2. The 28,000-car production capacity at the Yajima plant will increase to 31,000 cars by May, and 33,000 by August

I am keeping my finger crossed hoping we won't see Toyota platform or powertrain showing up in Subaru products, but when a small company gives up its ownership then its a fair game for all the big fishes.

For example, SAAB is about as unique and individual as car manufacturers go but when GM owned it the only thing left in SAAB is the logo (GM platforms, GM powertrains and then the make-me-cry SAABARU 9-2X ).

That's totally wrong, when GM owned it the only thing left in SAAB is the Logo( Subaru Impreza platforms, Subaru Impreza(Forester) Powertrains, and then Make me happy SAABRU 9-2X.)

My brother almost purchase a Saabaru 9-2x Aero, so I am 100% sure that under its skin, it's a Subaru Impreza.
