I think the new tires Yokohama V601 really improve the ride comfort in my GSF...

Before the tires pressures were 30 but they're 33 now... Guess what... The ride is still much more comfortable than before!!!

The Ohlins current settings are 7/12. I think I will increase the rear setting to 7/11 to increase a little aggressiveness of the rear!!! (More fun!!! Actually even 7/11 is still very conservative!!!)

PS: I changed the Ohlins settings from 9/14 to 7/12 this summer, as the Ohlins dampers became a little softer!!!
Don't get me wrong... Actually V601 could be as sticky as PS4S if you check the below review from a Porsche owner!!! (Be honest, I don't think V601 is as sticky as PS4S or Bridgestone Potenza Sport but the difference should be JUST A LITTLE. Sorry. I NEVER did 10/10 on these tires, so...)

PS: That Porsche owner also mentioned the ride on V601 is VERY GOOD!!!

The below is the Final Thoughts from that Porsche owner...

I honestly don’t know what more you could want from a tire. The Yokohama ADVAN Apex V601 impressed me initially with its street performance. Now that I have some track miles on it, I am even more impressed. The tire can handle the backroad twisty bits with aplomb in the dry or wet. It can even perform well when the temperatures drop below the designed operating range. The track performance was icing on the cake. It was fast, predictable and wore well. It did everything I asked of it and I asked more of it than most typical buyers ever will.

The Michelin PS4S is a fine tire, and I still have a set at home myself. However, I am really struggling to justify paying the premium price for it when the V601 performs just as well. You can debate my performance results and that is fine, but for me, on my car with the way I drive, the V601 is a perfect tire.

If you need to chase tenths of a second around a track you should be on an r-comp anyway. If you want a great street tire that is also a solid track performer then Yokohama has you covered.

When it is time for me to plunk down my hard-earned money on my next set of tires, the decision will be easy. I will be looking for another set of ADVAN Apex V601 tires from Yokohama. A more difficult decision is going to be figuring out how I want to spend the money I am going to save.

--------------------

Sorry! I would like to emphasize the last sentence that Porsche owner said... That is "A more difficult decision is going to be figuring out how I want to spend the money I am going to save." Yes! Right! Just that sentence... That sentence is just right in my mind now!!! What is my NEXT CAR I will purchase to use up those money I've saved from those previous reliable Japanese USED cars in the past??? NSX Hybrid or LFR(LFA 2) or something else???
FIGS suggests to start with 15/20 settings for their Ohlins suspensions for GSF/RCF...

I can't believe!!! Tires could make such a big difference!!!

V601 is also a summer tire but it rides so much better than Bridgestone summer tires. I really can't believe that I have been punished by BS summer tires for so many years!!! (I have used BS summer tires since 2009!!!)

One hour ago, I changed Ohlins settings for 6/10 (That's a STIFF setting!!!) Then, I took a ride on the highway and mountain roads. Guess what... The ride was still very comfortable. You can feel the car sometimes BOUNCES due to those very stiff springs(thanks to Ohlins excellent dampers, those bounces were settled very quickly and JUST ONCE then no more!!!) but the ride didn't punish you at all even at such a stiff setting 6/10 now!!!

Now I wonder if I really need to buy a GT3 car??? Now, my GSF can handle like GT3 and also rides like a GT3 factory car!!!

PS: Now my tire pressures are 33(before they're 30), but I don't want to increase the tire pressure as a little lower tire pressure could increase grips...
To increase understeer, stiff up front rebound or soft down rear rebound.
To increase oversteer, stiff up rear rebound or soft down front rebound.

Please be noted too stiff is NOT good...

My Ohlins only has one adjustment for one damper which adjusts rebound and compression simultaneously. However, rebound damping force is a bit stronger than compression. So, I would say the adjustment is mainly for rebound. Then, when you adjust the rebound, Ohlins will automatically choose the compression for you.

PS: Actually I think Ohlins DFV's one adjustment is better for average person like me. Less adjustment, less mistakes. However, if you track your car, you may need to fine tune your dampers. Then, TTX dampers may be more suitable for you. 0.1sec could be quite significant on tracks but it's really meaningless on daily drives!!!

The below is the suggestion from Ohlins...

Track 0-7 clicks
Winding road 5-10 clicks
Street 10-20 clicks

Now, my Ohlins settings are 6/10... (Please be noted my current Ohlins is already 4.5 year and 40K mile old now. So, I expect the settings should be 7/11 or 8/12 when new.)

I also believe my current tires V601 are a bit more comfortable than my previous tires PSS. However, it's not apple to apple comparison as the sizes are different...

Before (PSS)
255/35/R19
275/35/R19

Now (V601)
275/35/R19
285/35/R19

PS: I think, 6/10 is still slightly understeer(safer). I may try 6/9 or 7/10 in the future...
Believe it or not... I tried to read my previous posts to find what my Ohlins settings were in the beginning...

OMG! That's 9/9!!! (That's an aggressive setting and also stiff for PSS tires!!!)

I think I'm just like everyone... Learning from MISTAKES!!!

https://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=346&t=6418118&p=5

PS: I actually settled to 9/14 as my rear tires were BS S007A which were VERY STIFF!!!.
Actually in the beginning I tried to remove those BOUNCES and keep Ohlins suspension as stable as stock... Actually, it not realistic!!! (Yes. You can try to remove those bounces but the ride would become VERY STIFF!!! That's my mistake...)

Those Ohlins suspensions are actually VERY STIFF the springs of which are as stiff as those of GT3 or some supercars!!! So, you have to let Ohlins suspension bounce a little bit. But, the good thing is... Ohlins dampers are very good which can CONTROL the ride very quickly!!! (I also expect GT3 or some supercar also bounce a little bit due to those very stiff springs!!!)

Now, I saw my original settings were 9/9. So, I know my current 6/10(even though they're softer now) should be very good and could be almost as stable as the stock ride... (I still cannot believe tires could make such big differences!!!)
