1. 13.3 inch LCD: the MacBook Air indirectly says that this is going to be the smallest notebook Apple will make in the future. unless it's tablet, 13.3 will be the smallest.
2. Full size keyboard: of course it is possible to make a "notebook" smaller and smaller, but to have a full size keyboard, this is the smallest you can get.
it is clearly the MB Air is target toward potential Sony TZ customers. TZ selling for $2099. MBA undercut it by few hundred dollars.
3lb is quite light already. considering the WHOLE case up/down are made of Alumium instead of plastic or carbon. i would assume the whole case alone weight 1 lb already.
cutting weight from 7lb to 5 lb make big difference. again, cutting 5lb to 3lb make big difference. however, cutting from 3lb to 2lb make very little difference.
something interesting is that WHY Intel is willing to make special CPU for Apple but not other manufactures.
i think Intel's delay on 45nm CPU are the reason we don't see MBP, MB, and iMac update today. look from other menufactures, almost all products with new CPU are delayed and back ordered.
Apple usually create business model ahead of its time. iTunes music download was introduced long before most people buying music over internet. and follow now by Movie download. MBA is also the same pilot product which rely on full wireless environment.

I am not totally agree what you are saying .
1. the smallest here goes 13.3 is under Apple 's defination .not the word for other manufactures. My alwys belove C1MZX goes even under 10. and few other japs brand can achive similar size.
2. we have most well balanced brand goes 12.1 inch. aka IBM 's notebook. I couldnt indicate the exact date when it first introduced , 600E series back did make full-size & most comfortable keyboard in the field under 13.3 inch.
*. I dont think Intel will put so much focus to untilize one single product ,or even delays its own line fresh-up for others convenience.

Demo影片看似簡單輕鬆，但是有些該做的設定還是要做，否則一樣不能用Remote Disk。首先這個區網要有無線區段，沒有開放無線網路是一切免談。
此外，要用到區網上其他PC的裝置...要透過NETBIOS存取，但有些Vista電腦預設不安裝NETBIOS，所以每一台PC電腦的光碟裝置都能在無線網路上存取嗎？你只好在現場慢慢自己測試。再來ChanSP1970說的沒錯，還是要開啟存取端的共用分享權限。
MChiang貼了張圖，顯示必須在PC端安裝Remote Disc Setup software，我猜這應該跟安裝、啟用NetBIOS以及設定分享有關（Bonjour for Windows 加強版...???）
這不是創舉。也不是創新，只是過度簡化了展示過程而已。
還有一件事：若是出門在外有安裝光碟的需求，你會到一個你不太清楚有沒有無線的網路環境去安裝光碟軟體？這張光碟你剛好帶在身上？要是我，不如事先用其他Mac把它拷進隨身碟，用USB來裝。

Air除了薄, 我看不出有比Panasonic強的其他優點
[理由如下]
1.常把laptop帶出門的人, 都知道厚度不是重點, 重量才是....
2.Apple把Air做這麼薄, 除了美型, 但閹割了大部份外接的介面, 在目前現實中的使用環境(指帶出去使用)真的有點不切實際(也使得電池無法隨意更換), 啥? for 未來?...喔...如果是概念機我就沒話說了...
3.另外, Panasonic的laptop在嚴酷環境下的防護能力也是一絕, 就算是塑膠好了(我沒研究材料到底是哪些), 它的耐摔耐壓耐括耐震耐折磨的能力都是頂尖的, 坦白說就算是拿我一直使用了近10年的各式Thinkpad來比, 我都沒有把握是否有P家這種防護能耐
, 而這種帶出去不擔心的特質我想目前Apple沒一部作得到(反正這可能也不是Apple的重點)看看下面的影片, 就知道P家的laptop有多猛, 而這還不是P家最猛的Taughbook系列..只是一般Let's Note..= =...

對啦, 買東西喜好各有不同, 每家廠商發展的方向也不同, 但是就拿Panasonic來比較, 我真的不覺得apple"創新"了什麼
....我還覺得Apple出的Airport Express還比較有趣又實用咧...(我有用Apple喔...)

1. MacBook Air 強調的是在"13.3"吋裡是最薄的, 我想在此尺寸下應該目前沒有人比它薄吧!(有誤請指證)
2. MacBook Air沒提到過它是最輕的, 不過在"13.3"吋中好像算是排名前幾的

我想確認這兩點後再拿來和其他日系機種比較,會比較好, 同樣是13.3吋的.
當然MacBook Air為了薄犧牲了不少東西, 但犧牲的合不合適,就有待討論和時間證明了.
但是為什麼apple這次選擇要最薄呢? 我想因為薄的外型最令人矚目,一看就知道．重量不要和外型差太多就好.
如果選擇要做最輕的話, 沒辦法從外表看出來有多輕,而且可能會犧牲一些質感!
不過Job在演講中提到的remote disk, 真的讓我有點看的傻眼！
只能說他們真的會展示， 創立一個特別的詞來表示原本就有的網路磁碟分享功能．
似乎還真能吸引一些，不清楚這功能人的目光！
然後它的設定像是不是真的這麼容易就有待其他人確認了．
例如在演講時展示的影片出租服務，有人試過後，似乎沒有Job展示時的那麼簡單說
