The Lakers are reportedly only interested in signing Rajon Rondo as an unrestricted free agent this offseason at a discount.
An ugly divorce, and unproductive season with the Dallas Mavericks has really lowered Rondo's stock heading into free agency. Rondo just isn't the same player he once was before the ACL tear in 2013. He remains a major liability on offense, and his defense has dipped as well. He clashes with coaches, and his need to have the ball in his hands would more than likely result in some conflict with Kobe Bryant. Simply put, Rondo hasn't played like a max-contract player for some time now, and he's likely going to have to settle for less during free agency.
