What do you think of Jim Rogers books?
He pumped Shanghai Index in late 2007, when it was trading around 6000. Today it’s at 2900 level.
S&P 500 was around 1500 back then. Today it’s at 2900 level.
He also pumped commodities hard, and launched 4 commodities ETNs in late
2007. Their investors have lost anywhere between 25% and 75% since then.
I still vividly remember him railing against QEs and warning inflation
was going to skyrocket and dollar was going to collapse. But he failed
to see that:
- 2008 crisis was a deflationary debt crisis
- World population growth has slowed down dramatically, with some key countries going into reverse
- Globalization and global labor arbitrage
- Automation and internet as productivity enhancements
- Shale gas, shale oil, and oil sand crushed the peak oil hypothesis
- Solar, wind, and battery became viable, and the slow destruction of the US coal industry
For me, this man has zero credibility.
