Springfield Armory Mil Spec 1011-A1 .45
Uh... I know you mean "1911", right?
I gotta say Springfield makes great pistols, especially xD series. There are many safety features on xD and it fits well in hand. Plus, every package comes with the whole shebang, extra mag, mag holster, and gun holster. You can't get any better deal than Springfield. The store I go to they sell tons of Springfield xD series.
Do you know there is a new xD series, xDM series? It comes with higher mag capacity and MATCH grade barrell. Due to popuarity, our store can't even get more than (3) 9mm from the dealer.
Springfield 1911 is even better. Colt makes original 1911. If you're a collector, you have to have a Colt 1911. Kimber is good, but I think it is overpriced. Springfield 1911 is economical and reliable. Therefore, I always suggest customers to buy Springfield 1911 if they have limited budget.

Glock makes very good pistols, but they don't fit my hand.
No question ask. Your situation is same as EVERYONE. You can basically take Glock apart into pieces, throw into dishwasher, put them back together, and it can still fire well.
However, a lot of people complain about the comfort in holding Glock. There are a lot of pistols with comfort holding, xD series, Styer, S&W, and my favorite - HK 45. Many people dislike Glock because of this bad comfort holding problem.
