Bridgestone/Firestone.

Whether it has been winning over 350 Grand Prix races or being the first tyre used on the moon, Goodyear is famous world over for being at the forefront of tyre technology. With just 13 workers, Goodyear production began on November 21, 1898, with a product line of bicycle and carriage tyres, horseshoe pads and poker chips. Since the first bicycle tyre in 1898, Goodyear pedalled its way toward becoming the world's largest tyre company, a title it earned in 1916 when it adopted the slogan "More people ride on Goodyear tyres than on any other kind," becoming the world's largest rubber company in 1926.
Today, Goodyear measures sales in excess of $20 billion, the company has more than 85,000 associates worldwide and manufactures in more than 85 facilities in 28 countries. And to think it all began in a converted strawboard factory on the banks of the Little Cuyahoga River in Akron, Ohio . The Goodyear range incorporates technology and advances in tyre design gathered from Goodyear's various research and development teams located around the world. You can feel confident that there is a Goodyear tyre of the highest quality to suit your individual needs. And with a distribution network the envy of the Australian tyre industry, Goodyear should be the tyre you choose first every time.

Goodyear founder Frank Seiberling.
Seiberling felt Mercury embodied many of
the characteristics for which Goodyear

Goodyear Loses Women's Vote By Screwing Female Worker
Dear Goodyear - do you think any woman in America will ever voluntarily buy a tire of yours again?
Think again!
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and against Lilly Ledbetter, who retired from an Alabama Goodyear plant and then sued, claiming she earned $6,000 a year less than her lowest-paid male co-worker.
The Civil Rights Act requires employees to sue within six months of discrimination, but Ledbetter said it was too late by the time she had proof of the discrepancy.
In a five-to-four decision, the Supreme Court said she waited too long. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the only woman on the court, disagreed with the decision, who urged Congress to amend the law to correct the court's "parsimonious reading'' of the law.
Ginsburg said Ledbetter faced an impossible choice: sue sooner and likely lose a half-baked case, or wait until the evidence was strong enough to win and then be told it was too late to sue. Siding with Ginsburg were justices Stephen Breyer, David Souter and John Paul Stevens. Workers salute you.
New York Sen. Hillary Clinton said she will author legislation to make clear that workers like Ledbetter could use old evidence of unequal pay to demonstrate they are being discriminated against now.
