Lexus 出廠機油是特殊的磨合用機油，交車後1000~1500km左右應該只要回廠檢查機油量以及車子其他組件就好，後面的話根據原廠手冊是寫半年或是 10000 公里更換

I suggest you can buy Mobil 1 0-40 fully synthetic. it is fairly cheap and it is excellent. if you change it every half year, don't buy those super expensive oil. it just waste of money.
for every oil change, it is necessary to change oil filter.
ps. you can also try mobil 1, 5-30 or 10-30. from my experience, 5-30 will give a higher engine sound. it is easilier to raise the engine speed and the engine is lauder. 10-30 will give a lower engine sound. the engine will be more quiet. 0-40 is easier to cold start and the engine will reach operation temp faster. You can try different oil and see which one you like the best.

BMW的行車電腦有保養指示, 以公里數記, 歸零時是25000公里, 隨行車遞減, 但遞減的速度並非固定, 而是隨著行車的狀況有時快有時慢, 像我前兩天去做保養時, 我開了一萬公里, 行車電腦則指示再9000公里需保養換油.
我有同事真的是依此行車電腦的指示才換油, 因為現行的車, 特別是歐洲車, 很少人是因為引擎壞掉在換車, 通常引擎頭好壯壯時, 變速箱, 發電機等其他機件早讓人修到怕.

Yes. in the US, the light is set at around 15K miles.
however, the service light JUST calculate the miles and the engine speed. it DOESN"T monitor oil condition... if you only drive 2K miles a year, the service light will never light up even after 5 years!
i agree with you that nowadays, engine is build to last for a long time. however i usually change oil at 7.5K miles, and after exam the oil, i think it's about the right time to change. (i once changed at 15K miles, the oil was quite dirty)
