Goodyear and Dirt Track
Goodyear supports the dirt track racing industry with tires that help drivers win races. Whether it旧 a local Saturday night race card or a touring series, Goodyear旧 development team continues to produce tires that are at the forefront of technological advancement.
Goodyear continues as the exclusive tire provider for FASTRAK, the nationally prominent sanctioning body that has provided late model dirt racers with an opportunity to race at their local tracks, on regional tours and in competition for a national championship. Goodyear has produced tires that help the drivers budgets.

The Goodyear tradition of offering racers consistent performance is equally present in dirt track racing, particularly with FASTRAK racing. FASTRAK sanctions weekly racing all around the United States. It also has 11 regional touring divisions.
The vision of FASTRAK founder Stan Lester, to provide racers with a cost-effective opportunity to race high-quality race cars, has become short track racing旧 new direction.
And the tires manufactured by Goodyear for FASTRAK have been a big part of that program.

Goodyear has just launched what looks like the “Volvo” of tyres called the Goodyear Assurance tire with ArmorGrip Technology, aimed at the customer who puts a priority on safety and durability when picking a new set of tyres.
“Goodyear consistently invests in research to better understand consumers driving needs. Based on these consumer insights, we know that the top key attribute most sought after in tyres is safety. For consumers in Asia, safety means excellent grip in wet or dry roads above all, and durability in terms of resistance to road hazards,” said DP Singh, Regional Marketing Director for Consumer Tyres.
What Goodyear calls ArmorGrip technology comprises of two different features that provides the “Armor” and “Grip” in ArmorGrip.
Goodyear AssuranceThe tire’s “Armor” incorporates both DuPont Kevlar in the tyres and a silicon-reinforced Durawall compound in the sidewall to provide increased resistance to cuts and tears. This is so that the tyre has increased durability in terms of resistance to the road hazards of our Malaysian roads. DuPont Kevlar which is lightweight and 5 times stronger than steel, was first used in Wrangler 4X4 tires.
The “Grip” portion is thanks to an advanced silica-based tread compound and a new “Waffle Blade System”. The use of silica in the thread increases chemical bonding with rubber polymers for improved grip.
Goodyear AssuranceThe Waffle Blade System is a new generation 3-dimensional blade system, which evolved from Goodyears previous Bubble Blade System.
It is designed to provide better braking and grip on wet and dry roads while maintaining lateral block rigidity, resulting in shorter wet braking distances without compromising handling performance.

Goodyear旧 commitment to NASCAR extends beyond the track with its Goodyear Racing & Diversity Program. This multi-phased program exposes diverse high school students to the exciting world of NASCAR and its career opportunities.
About the Program
The driver and pit crew are just a small part of the career opportunities within NASCAR. This program is designed to encourage students who are interested in the motorsports industry to further their education in a related business or technical field and pursue a career related to this great sport.
By providing an insider旧 view of Goodyear Racing and NASCAR, students have the opportunity to experience what it takes to work in this sport. Program participants interact with professionals from Goodyear, NASCAR, and its related companies. Throughout the experience, they are exposed to the wide variety of careers related to NASCAR, including areas such as engineering, operations, marketing, media relations, sales and broadcasting.
The Program Phases:
PHASE1: Race Day Experience
* Tours of Goodyear track operations, garage & pit areas, tour of marketing & media activities, etc.
* Meetings with NASCAR teams (drivers, crews, owners, etc) as possible
* Experience the race from the Grandstands or a suite
PHASE 2: Event Weekend Internship
* Multiple day internship during a NASCAR race weekend
* Job-shadowing of industry personnel matched to the student旧 area of interest
* Mentor sessions with teams, track management, pit crews, media relations, marketing as schedule permits
PHASE 3: Scholarships
* Opportunity to apply for Goodyear-funded scholarships to pursue post-high school education
* $38,000 available in scholarship awards
Future Plans
* Goodyear is currently investigating ways to reach more students through our Racing & Diversity Program efforts. As of mid-2009, the current program is ending so that we may focus our efforts on developing a program that has a broader scope. Stay tuned for future updates!

Goodyear's race tire development program has played a vital role in the evolution of drag racing and that role continues in 2008.
In the mix for the 2008 season are new Goodyear drive tires for the NHRA's most powerful cars, those in the Top Fuel and funny Car categories.

At the end of the 2007 season, cars racing on Goodyear rubber had won 335 consecutive Pro Stock events and Goodyear-shod racers qualified first in 333 of those races. All this happened despite the fact that the Pro Stock category was open to competition among tiremakers.
