BMW have a list of "approved" oil. If you bring the oil from the "approved" list. BMW USA will ask no question.
Although Mobil 1 has many kind of synthetic oil available. Mobil 1 0W-40 is the ONLY approved oil from the Mobil 1 family. (the back of the bottle will say BMW longlife 01 approved)
If you bring your own oil, you still have to pay for labor cost and disposal fee.
an oil change usually cost around $80 for everything. (including oil, oil filter, break check, top up all fluid. check engine for error code and reset)
bring your own approved oil will usually not save any money. However, you can use the kind of oil you like.
If you bring an oil not on the approved list, they will tell you the oil is not suggested to use on the car. However, if you insist to use it, they will still put it into your car.
I don't think oil will not break the engine, especially within warranty period. Usually problem started to happen after warranty period.

台灣大部分的原廠(或代理商)保養廠幾乎都把機油列為撈錢的項目之一,
要不就是說自備機油不予保固,甚至直接說自備料件不予承修.
好一點的會收,但除了工資會收廢油處理費,
台灣回收機油是有獎勵金的,且既然已收工資了實在沒有理由再另收廢油處理費,
原廠人事管銷、設備建置、教育訓練等...費用龐大是可以了解的,
而且還要開發票,
拿來跟外面修車師傅自己開的保養廠比並不公平
就像同樣的東西你去便利商店買絕對比去雜貨店、量販店貴.
所以如果原廠不管是零件、工資比外面貴個1~2成相信大家也都還可以接受,
問題是很多車廠用的號稱原廠機油卻是台灣代理商自己跟外面廠商簽約的分裝、桶裝貨,
收國外原廠貼牌瓶裝機油的錢,而且還比在市面上買瓶裝原廠機油貴一倍
以VW來說原廠一般全合成桶裝機油每公升550元,可是在外面拿這個價錢買VW原廠認證的長效型(國外號稱可以兩年換一次油的)也沒那麼貴,而代理商用的550元那款機油其實用起來跟市售200多元的機油無異,才3瓶機油的小車做個基礎換油保養連工帶料要3000多元(其實除了機油外也才換機油芯而已,自己已經把汽油精機油精雨刷精這類東西刪掉了),且又不讓人自備料件,實在擺明要叫人不要回原廠保養嘛~

其實馬自達有2款機油,1款5W-30,是台灣OEM的,另外1款5W-40,是Made in H.K.,這款是殼牌的機油,記得香港本身沒有煉油廠,這款應該是殼牌設在廣東的煉油廠所生產的,再展轉運到台灣來。
我問技師和接待,為何車主自備機油會有保固上的爭議,他們回答的理由不外是--怕車主自備的機油可能是假油,我說那如果今日請你們和我一同前往中油的直營加油站,當場購買機油,並且在施工的單據上註明油品來源,並請同行的車廠人員簽名,同時發票影印一份黏貼在上面,那麼就保證不會是假油,這時車主的保固是否就受到保障,結果不出所料,沒人答的出來,只是一再表示---這是公司的規定。
我個人其他4款車都是自備機油,都只是知名油廠的平價機油,也從來沒發生過什麼問題,車廠們也從來不因此來威脅我,不知是不是馬自達的引擎特別不耐用,才會這麼沒信心!!!
