My 1Ds III is able to tune all three F2.8 lenses to correctly maintain focus on both end of the focal range. Even though it would make sense that in addressing a backfocus issue on the 24 end of the 24-70 would also creat a backfocus problem on the 70 end, this is not the case on my 1Ds body. I suppose one is merely adjusting the setting on the eletronics controls of the camera which is supposed to focus properly. Remember only settings can be adjusted, no physical changes take place inside the lens.
