you mentioned about 35mm, the IS is important for some low light situation. You really make me wanna buy an ultra wide with IS, i am currently looking for Voigtlander 20mm F/3.5, it's a pancake lens, but after reading your post, make me wanna buy 24mm F/2.8 IS.
I think i should organize a trip for family, so others can help me to take care of my daughter and son.

Haha, you got the point the only way to take photo in a trip with kids is to bring the whole family!

I would not say those photos are like poison or what but I'm glad you enjoy them.(you know you can always dig as many as "real" fabulous photos on flickr or 500px)
And in my mind, IS is definitely helpful when shot in low light circumstance(or mostly food for me).
Incidentally, 小帥智大 already got 24mm F/2.8 IS and he mentioned it is great and you could ask him more.
