I want to get a light weight standard len for use on travel. I like to take some macro pictures when I arrived everywhere eg. hotals, restaurants, train stations........ I can accept the speed of the 50MM macro. But is this len good for landscape as good as 50mmF1.4?
My camera is 1D ~ 1.3X (Mark III will be arrive soon) but I'm thinking about should I get a lighter body for use on travel 5D or 30D may be a choose.
ps. I have some friends use the macro len for portrait shoting. The photos are quiet good if the models have a nice skin.

2 suggestions for you.
1.
Suggest you can buy 50mm F1.4 and buy another Macro lens. Such as Sigma 24/F1.8 or Canon 60mm/Macro. This is a different segment. you can either buy 24/F1.8 if you take pics in house quite often or you prefer to take pictures outside--100mmMacro is good.
2.
To save the money, if you can just buy one lens, maybe 50mm/F2.8 could be a good idea. Any way most of your time you won't use F1.4 but F2.8~5.6 for better image quality.
Macro is an amazing function and you will be very happy if you get a good macro lens.

它沒有 USM，但近距都是用M手動對焦，沒有AF需要所以沒差。
我也有買1:1 adaptor lens，但幾乎沒用到過。我覺得1:2都很少用到了，好像不太需要加買等倍鏡。不過這顆等倍鏡素質很好，不會影響畫質。
50macro鏡不合適日常生活用。1.遠物對焦、背景緊緻度不佳。這和它設計用途有關，它犧牲遠距表現換取近距表現。故不建議日常生活用，它還是適合近距工作用。
50mmf1.4 USM是通用鏡，對焦快速，光圈大，背景虛化遠強過50f2.5 macro。但它近距離畫質緊緻度比不上macro鏡，因為它未對近距拍攝時像場平坦度、像散問題校正，它的真正用途是中、長拍攝距離，跟，低照度環境。
這兩鏡頭共同問題：顏色平淡
好像 85f1.8 vs. 85f1.2L、 135f2.8SF vs. 135f2L
CANON最高級鏡頭顏色比較強烈，感覺上畫面比較緊緻、顏色比較討喜。
我試過 CANON G6拍的顏色都比50f2.8 macro還濃烈(同一片CF卡下去比)。從此我就不帶macro鏡出門拍人、拍風景了。
