1) Calculate the car's supply price (incl. GST, excl. government charges)
$ 90,000.00
2) Calculate value of supply price exceeding the LCT threshold
$ 90,000.00 - $ 57,466.00
= $ 32,534.00
3) Exclude the GST payable from this value
$ 32,534.00 / 1.1
= $ 29,576.36
4) Multiply this GST exclusive value by the LCT rate
$ 29,576.36 x 0.33
= $ 9,760.20

這個看地方啦，在賓州除非是你要customized車牌，不然dealer會直接給你一張車牌，只是因為這張車牌監理單位沒有正式的資料，所以後檔還會貼一張臨時的registration，所以在賓州路上看到後檔貼了那張紙的就知道是這三個月內才剛掛牌的車。
在紐約州，如果dealership 規模夠大，例如一家dealership 代理五個以上的汽車品牌，DMV 就會允許該dealership 馬上為購車顧客辦理 registration 及領車牌，像一個小型 DMV，因為我的Miata 在 2010年4月頭買的，剛好4月1日 NYS 換了新款鐵牌(黃黃紫紫的)，我想可以貼個新車臨時registration 爽一爽，再慢慢等 Mazda 幫我安裝鐵牌，誰不知 Mazda 說己經有新牌庫存，然後隨手在抽屜裡拿出一對新款牌，我當下傻了眼，結果當天就裝上新鐵牌回家去了。
相反，規模較小的 dealership 就只有一張臨時的 registration，要慢慢的等 DMV 把車牌發過來。

Actually the MSRP for 550 is about $61k (bmwusa.com). With options and discount, I am sure you can get a 550 out of door at low $60k to $80k. I would guess the MSRP for next gen M5 will not be more than $90k-100k. :-)
BTW, there is no luxury tax in California at the moment...
