問題: SATA 與 SATA II 硬碟的支援與否

買東西真是需靠點運氣...好運得時鐘，歹運得龍眼...

4年前購買Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160G (印象中是3.2張小朋友)
和目前容量與價位相差甚遠，昨日小弟因硬碟掛了需後送，因此動了購買新硬碟的念頭

但小弟有一不解請各位前輩指教...
小弟主機板是舊款...僅支援 SATA 1代..並不支援 SATA II

銷售員告知..目前只有 Seagate 有支援SATA 1代 (可調 jump) ，
其餘 Hitachi 與 WD 都不能調 jump 真是這樣嗎?

請各位有使用過 H牌、W牌與S牌的前輩告知一下...

PS. 小弟並無品牌迷思，因梭魚之前傳出災情因此想換換他牌使用看看..

WD的硬碟好像不需要接跳線吧
會自動切換的樣子
我有2個WD的硬碟
分別是WD2000JS跟WD6400AAKS
都不需要跳線即可使用在SATA I的介面卡上（我有親自試過）
其中WD2000JS我接在SATA I的介面卡上已經用了2年多了

請問WD硬碟都有跳Jumper的腳位和插銷嗎?
如圖:

我看原廠解釋: Interface 300 MB/s Serial ATA 2.0 (backwards compatible with Serial ATA 1.0)
有向下支援SATA 1.0 ，還需要跳Jumper嗎?

感謝您提供H牌的訊息，
個人覺得若是直接由硬體調整(EX:跳jumper)會比透過軟體調整來的方便，

但~畢竟這也是一種方式!!

WD 的 SATA 硬碟只要接上去主機板能"偵測"到硬碟,那就表示可以工作(自動切換)
若是接上去後無法識別,即表示該驅動設備不支援自動切換模式,此時才需要插 JP 5,6 (強制硬碟以 SATA1 工作)

Problem:
Second Generation Serial ATA hard drives are not detected when connected to a
VIA or SIS Serial ATA controller. These First Generation Serial ATA
controllers include the following chipsets:
* VT8237
* VT8237R
* VT6420
* VT6421L
* SIS760
* SIS964

Cause:
Our Second Generation Serial ATA hard drives use autospeed negotiation. This
enables our Second Generation Serial ATA hard drives to automatically detect
the motherboard data transfer rate, making it backward compatible with First
Generation Serial ATA data transfer rates. However, because this technology
is so new, some older First Generation Serial ATA controllers are unable to
support autospeed negotiation and cannot recognize the drive. This “drive
not detected” condition occurs when a chipset is incapable of correctly
negotiating the data transfer speed with a Second Generation Serial ATA hard
drive.

Resolution:
* You can purchase and install a third party PCI or PCI-Express Second
Generation Serial ATA controller card for your Serial ATA hard drive(s).
* To lock the drive at 150 MB/s data transfer rate, install a jumper
shunt on pins OPT1, shown in the picture below.
* If the OPT1 jumper setting does not resolve the issue, please contact
Western Digital Support for further troubleshooting.
