以那時的主機板而言
USB外接硬碟能到2T沒問題嗎?
因為我這2年看主機板規格
只看到3T以上須主機板有支援
沒看到老主機板是否有到2T
像這種舊主機板
USB外接3T硬碟會怎樣呢?
能顯示3T?
還是顯示2T?
或是不會顯示裝置?

The last thing worth mentioning is the shear storage size of this unit and how Seagate has handled this issue. As you may well be aware of any drive which is over the magic 2TB number can't be seen by older 32- bit operating systems, such as Windows XP. To be precise, this is more a limitation of the Logical Block Addressing (LBA), Master Boot Record scheme used; rather than it being an OS limitation, but the end result is the same: major headaches for older operating systems and an upper limit on hard drives of 2TB which use a 512byte addressing scheme. Seagate is full cognizant of this fact and has setup the Seagate 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk in such a manner that regardless of your OS, you shouldn't run into issues. Basically, what they have done is mask the size of the drive by having the GoFlex cable report the drive as having 4k sectors instead of 512bytes. This makes it perfect for use on even older operating systems!

You can use the full capacity of a 3TB drive via USB--with a drive enclosure that supports it. The SATA-to-USB bridge chip inside the enclosure takes care of any addressing issues. This is why the first 3TB drive shipped last summer as an external model--a switch from the usual pattern of internal units shipping first.
Although you shouldn't have any issues attaching a prepackaged 3TB external drive, you may have problems if you buy a 3TB internal drive and try to add it to a USB-connected enclosure yourself. Read the fine print: Many of the bare enclosures say they support 3TB, but not all of them do.

受限原因不在這邊...32/64bit主要是影響到是否要拿GPT分區來當開機碟罷了，當然還有EFI/UEFI與OS是否支援等限制

說法有誤，還是有容量限制
只是目前技術達不到那邊就是了
且就算OS是用32Bit的Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008/Win7，一樣能正常讀取大於2.2TB的資料碟
32Bit的XP還能透過GPT Loader或是破解disk.sys等方式正常存取GUID分割表的資料碟
而像是XL3000 3TB與GoFlex Desk 3TB則是使用MBR+特殊映射方式讓完整容量都能使用到
所以XP系統不用做任何修改就能使用這類的外接硬碟

請問是何者呢?
可以使用3TB的內、外接硬碟作為資料碟使用，選哪種要看自己如何抉擇
(內接的話請自行先確認SATA控制器是否支援..)
唯一的限制就是無法將這顆3TB硬碟當系統開機碟就是了

還是得看該硬碟的用途
當資料碟的話就同上
當系統碟的話必須是EFI/UEFI+支援GPT分區開機的64bit OS
