2014 SUBARU FORESTER RECALLS
NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 13V159000
Recall Date: 2013-04-24
Summary:
Subaru is recalling certain model year 2014 Forester vehicles manufactured from January 2013 through March 2013. The backing for the carpeted floor mats was not manufactured to specification. As a result, the floor mats may curl when exposed to heat.
Consequences:
Curling of the driver side floor mat could distract the driver and/or interfere with proper operation of one or a combination of, the vehicle's clutch, brake, and accelerator pedals. Brake or accelerator pedal interference may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash.
Remedy:
Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will replace each of the vehicle's four (4) carpeted floor mats with new ones. These services will be performed free of charge. Subaru will issue an interim notification by the end of April 2013. Owners may contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783. Subaru's recall campaign number is WQH-44.
Component Affected:
EQUIPMENT
Notes:

2011 Subaru Forester Exterior Lighting Recall 12V602000

NHTSA: Action Number: N/A Service Bulletin Number: 12V602000
Report Date:
Dec 26, 2012Component:
Exterior LightingPotential Units Affected:
633842Manufacturer:
Subaru Of America, Inc.
Summary: Subaru is recalling certain model year 2010 and 2011 legacy and outback vehicles, certain model year 2006 through 2012 tribeca vehicles sold before january 2012, and certain model year 2009 through 2012 forester vehicles sold before january 2012. Up to 53,999 of these vehicles may have been equipped with accessory puddle lights that, when illuminated, brighten the area under the doors of the vehicle. A short circuit can develop when either the puddle light or connector are exposed to an electrolytic moisture source (such as road spray that has road salt in it) and it penetrates the circuit board of the puddle light or the pins of the puddle light connector(s).

Consequence: Over time, migration of the moisture into the circuit board and/or into the connector cavity, may result in a short circuit of the puddle light system. This may generate heat which may melt the plastic resulting in smoke or fire.

Remedy: Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional fused-harness, free of charge. The recall began february 19, 2013. Owners may contact subaru at 1-800-782-2783 for more information.

Notes: Subaru's recall campaign number is wqe-41. Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to www. Safercar. Gov.

Subaru Forester Recall Issued Due to Child Restraint Problems

By: Staff Writers | Published: March 20th, 2012

Subaru is recalling hundreds of thousands of Forester vehicles because the rear seat belts may fail to conform to safety standards for child restraints.

The Subaru Forester recall (pdf) was announced last week and will affect certain model year 2009-2012 Forester vehicles.

The safety problem centers around the seat belt for the center position in the back seat and was discovered during an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The center seat belt’s automatic locking retractor design does not allow the use of all child restraints, some of which may not lock when used with the center back seat belt.

Subaru indicates that the problem could increase the risk of injury to a child during an accident. However, there have been no child injuries reported in connection with the design defect.

Federal standards require that the seat belt work with child safety restraints. Subaru has said it will begin notifying affected owners in mid April, but has warned that there is a parts shortage, which means that some owners will not be able to have repairs on their vehicles until next February.

The recall affects about 275,000 Subaru Forester vehicles, model years 2009-2012. The affected Foresters were manufactured from November 26, 2007 through March 13, 2012.

The recall is expected to begin on or before April 13, 2012. Registered owners will be able to take their vehicle in to a Subaru dealership for free repairs and replacement parts. Consumers with questions can contact Subaru by calling (800) 782-2783, or by calling the NHTSA at (888) 327-4236, or by visiting the agency’s website at www.safercar.gov.
