In addition, it's quite difficult to tell how nimble the car is on paper or numbers? you really need to drive it and feel it...

Those performance cars are fast on racetracks but they may not as nimble as what you think... That's why about 10 years ago, I drove my stock Nissan Skyline(G35S) and was chasing a E46 M3 on mountain roads. I didn't feel that M3 was very fast on narrow curvy roads...(but it was quite fast and stable on straight roads even though the road was not very smooth... But my Nissan was also fast... 333hp vs 310hp)
By the way that M3 was also smaller, lighter and had bigger tires than my Nissan... I think my Nissan stock sport springs were also stiffer. That's why it was more bouncy than that M3... Just like GSF vs M5... But I think GSF is still more stable than my Nissan... I think my previous Nissan was a little raw and unrefined. Recent Nissans(Infinitis) are more refined now...

PS: That's why my wife still doesn't like her M35X that much. I told her... You need to believe your M first. If you believe it, then it will be fast.. Of course her M suspension has to be upgraded to a good performance coilover like Koni or Bilstein to become as sharp as our previous modified 2000 Maxima (or Cefiro) in Taiwan...
Her M35X is already quite good and faster than E500... (Of course its ride will not be as refined as E500... )

PS: I never drove an E500 before but I'm pretty sure E500's ride is more refined than my wife's M35X especially after I tested two M5(F10) recently... But, recent these Japanese cars like my GSF are much better now... (the gaps become closer and closer...)
Nissan also beat Alfa on the track 15 years ago... Of course Alfa may feel more fun or DELICIOUS like Chinese food but Nissan is MUCH MUCH MUCH more reliable...

The below Skyline came with CVT. If that Skyline came with 5sp AT, it would be even faster...

That's why SAAB began to disappear at that time...
So do NOT think these Japanese cars are not good on mountain roads. It's OUT-OF-DATE long time ago!!! I tested IS, ES, NX, Q50, Q60 before. They all good comparing with my GSF... (Of course my GSF is better especially on tracks but on the public roads within legal speed the difference is NOT that much except much bigger tires and higher power output... My suggestion is to get F sport suspension and better tires first if you drive really fast...)

But, like GSF I do admit better dampers on them may help a bit to give you more confidence... (But my wife's M does need better dampers...)

PS: Of course if you are like me and want your car to be sharp like a race car, then you need to upgrade your suspension. These Japanese cars and the most of similar European cars will NOT give you that feel except the most expensive ones... (Maybe the most expensive ones can... I haven't tried them yet... )
Why did I always upgrade my previous cars' suspension? Because I heard so many people or reviews said Japanese cars' handling were not good. And I BELIEVE IT!!! Until one day I finally own GSF which is already more nimble than M5... Guess what... I think GSF is not as sharp as my previous cars and I don't like it very much... (Because now I only can drive race cars...)

Life is STRANGE!!!
Nowadays even Toyota is not slow on mountain roads...

These Japanese cars are really changed now...
Jeremy Clarkson also loves GSF's dynamics...

Today I drove a TLX... I think its suspension was stiffer than Maxima and its handling was better than Maxima and Altima but the steering in Maxima was better.(Even the steering in IS is better than TLX) Actually Maxima's steering is quite good even comparing with my GSF but Maxima suspension is a little soft and softer than new Altima...

In addition, the interior in Maxima is better than TLX and even IS. The interior in TLX looks like new Altima...

I also like Nissan engines more because they feel more powerful in low-mid rpms (because I don't drive my car that fast!!! )... But I think MPG in Hondas should be better...
