this is important. "Usually" power line within house are rated for 15A. "However" many interior designer want to save money and use 12A line or smaller. If you do the math, the total power from a 15A line would be 120V x 15A = 1800W. if you have 12A line, it would be 1440W. total.
If you connect a TV (around 200W), dvd/BD player (150W to 200W for PS3) you have less than 1000W left. Normally, AV amp has 50% effeciency rate, which means no matter how good the amp you get, you will get around 500W output. 500W for 5.1 channel (total of 6) means you have less than 100W for each channel. This will limit the performance.

so if you have a dedicate line (directly from power company, which is usually rated at 40A for whole house use) you will not run out of power.

in my apartment in Taiwan, we split the line from power company. one line for whole house use, and another for living room home theater.

If you run dedicate line, MAKE SURE the power cable u use is rated AT LEAST 20A and above (ideally 40A line). otherwise, u are wasting ur time and money. (for cable, u don't need super expensive one, just a quality one is more than enough)

it will depends on how the layout and interior design of your house. General speaking, a "hard" room will enhance high frequency and "soft" room will reduce it. if you have mable floor, brick wall, you have a "hard" room. if you have wooden floor, carpet floor, u have a "soft" room.

to be honest, for a $10W system, i wouldn't worry too much on this. unless your room is really strange shape or u have a really "hard" environment.

3.配管走線 …應該在裝潢時，會做好

one thing is important, use QUALITY cable for rear channel!! use at least 12 Guage for rear speakers. (10 guage is even better)
if you don't know which cable is better, choose those 4 connectors twised. in addition, use same length for left and right channel.

現在大概知道客廳約有4坪左右，老爸有去看過，覺得前置的喇叭是直立式的比較好，因為我也不懂，所以想再請問，可以前置跟後置的喇叭分開買嗎?這樣有比較好嗎?還是說一次買5.1整組的就好呢?
speakers are really personal taste. if you ask 10 people, u will get 10 different answers. besides the sound quality, build quality and finish is also important to me. Personally, i don't want a good sounding ugly speakers.

yes, you can mix and match speakers. however, it's better to buy speakers from same menufacture so that it will have similier sound for front and surround.

u have a small room. i think it is more important to choose a speaker that will suit the interior design and space. quality floorstanding speakers are quite deep (usually 40cm or more) if you have a tv stand and put speakers in front of tv stand, your room will be even smaller. I think it is something u also need considering.

maybe u should go listen to some system and tell us what you think.
