if we compare recession to a natural disaster such as earthquake, then those who complain about 22k would be as if the victims in Haiti complain to the world food programme that “these emergency cookies taste like crap; why didn’t you bring us angus steak?”
it is true that during a recession, jobs are limited; however, if you are able to earn your boss 1000k, then why wouldn’t your boss want to hire you for 500k? not to mention the benefit of distributing money to the public, which causes consumption to go up. it would then increase tax revenue and business profit, and eventually increase jobs.
many people’s perspective is so narrow that they only see things from the labor side. A bloody example would be Greece. Their government provides loose tax policies and supports high wage and low hours, regardless of productivity. Another would be GM, with their high wage and benefits to workers without equivalent values.
