這些英文千萬別不懂裝懂

聽一位老一輩在地美國人說的,nigga/nigger 在早期才是尊重黑人的用詞,

Blackman 才是渺視黑人的用詞,因為早期拓荒者多半是西班牙語系的人,

Nigger /Nigga在西班牙語系,意思就是 黑/黑人,至於為什麼意思會對調過來?
你搞錯了.
傳統英文的黑人叫Negro, 這不帶有任何歧視意味, 是可以在公開場合大方說出的詞彙.
比叫blackman更有禮貌. Negro是西班牙文與葡萄牙文的黑色.
Nigger則是帶有嚴重歧視的字彙, 通常中文會翻譯為黑鬼.
黑人會自稱Nigger是種自嘲, 任何其他人種叫他們這個字都是種污辱.

Negro > Blackman > Nigger
最後一個字千萬不要亂用.

應該是時代變遷,所以意思也跟著變了.......

不, 是你誤會了。
對方應該是跟你說negro, 你聽成nigger.
這只是很基本的英文,甚至你google一下都很容易找到答案的。

The word “Negro” is used in the English-speaking world to refer to a person of black ancestry or appearance. The word negro denotes 'black' in the Spanish and Portuguese, derived from the ancient Latin word, niger, 'black', which itself ultimately is probably from a Proto-Indo-European root *nekw-, 'to be dark', akin to *nokw- 'night'.[1][2]
"Negro" superseded "colored" as the most polite terminology, at a time when "black" was more offensive.[3] This usage was accepted as normal, even by people classified as Negroes, until the later Civil Rights movement in the late 1960s. One well-known example is the identification by Martin Luther King, Jr. of his own race as 'Negro' in his famous 1963 speech I Have a Dream.

其實是同一個字,centre 是英國式的拼法,center 是美國式的拼法.,

英國的拼字法是比較古早一點,同樣的字還有 theatre --> theater..

不過美國當地的劇院,還是保留了 theatre 的拼法....

這家美國當地的劇院,我去過...看完了,回家還要寫報告交作業.....
That is funny in so many ways.... hahhahah

Eat this! Some people do make distinctions between the words. For instance, some prefer to treat center as the word for a place or institution and centre as the word for the middle point of something. But while these preferences may be taught in some schools and are perhaps common among careful English speakers in Canada, the U.K., and elsewhere, they are not broadly borne out in 21st-century usage.----------------------------This is how I was taught in elementary school and you can see how many rebuttals there are below this misleading article. Commonly used by the Americans doesn't make it right.
