Another victim has been claimed, and this time it's Yuri of SNSD. Will the Swine Flu rampage ever end?
Although this is not the first time a celebrity has been infected, it is for SNSD, whose members have until now never been infected with swine flu. The reason why Yuri contracted the virus, despite that the the flu itself is very contagious, is very obvious. With their recent debut of Oh! the Second album, SNSD has been on their feet for months now without a break.
Yuri in particular has been busier than any many of her fellow members because of her jam-packed schedule: performances on music shows, appearances on variety shows and radio programs, her duty to MC various shows like MBC's Music Core, and of course, being a part of SNSD's encore tour around Asia, including all their fan meetings and encore stages. The list is practically endless.
According to SM Entertainment, SNSD's Yuri was feeling ill the night of the 4th and after being taken to the hospital, she was diagnosed as having contracted the H1N1 virus. Considering her circumstances, 「until she is fully healed, she[Yuri] will be taken out of all activities and will be resting at home.」
In a way, this is good news since she gets a well-deserved break, but unfortunately this means she won't be on any TV or radio shows until she makes a full recovery. Wish her a speedy recovery!
Secret's Jeon Hyosung Will MC for GOM Music Chart!
Jeon HyoSung from rookie group Secret will be advancing her MC-ing skills on yet another music show! Her entertainment company commented that she be an MC for GOM Music Chart starting on the 5th.
GOM Music Chart airs every Friday at 2PM on GOM TV Music Channel. This program has a pretty neat lineup, featuring popular music videos, a talk show, even results from polls! It's definitely a fantastic source for checking what's going on in the music world.
Having previously MC-ed for M.net's Sonyun Sonyuh Gayo Baeksuh(Boys' and Girls' Pop Song Handbook) and OnGame Net's Item Dream, the hardworking leader of Secret will definitely make an greater impression in the entertainment world, especially with all her experience!
4Minute Hits Japan!
These beautiful and talented girls seem to be everywhere. They are certainly gaining more momentum as they trek across Asia, and no tour would be complete without a stop in Japan!
Back in January, 4Minute first visited Taipei, Taiwan and signed autographs for their Chinese fans.
Then in early February, 4Minute went to Manila, Philippines where they held autograph sessions, performed their hit songs in shopping malls, and appeared on variety shows. 4Minute became so popular that they were even featured in the February issue of Filipino Myx Magazine.
Their next destination was Bangkok, Thailand, where the girls performed in front of 7,000 Thai fans. 4Minute then proceeded to visit Hong Kong on February 18, where eager fans were already awaiting their arrival.
Seems like visiting 4 different cities was not enough as 4Minute has now landed in Tokyo, Japan. They will be holding a showcase with approximately 1,000 Japanese fans attending. In addition, 4Minute will be caught up in a whirlwind of radio shows, photoshoots, and interviews by various media stations.
It hasn't even been a full year since their debut, yet 4Minute is already famous all over Asia! Wishing the girls the best of luck in their endeavors.
Han Seungyeon's Reply to Sung Shibak's Love Call?
The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics is still fresh on everyone's minds; KARA's Han Seungyeon is no exception! KARA's very own hamster hinted on the last recording of SBS Choi Hwajung』s Power Time that she wanted to reciprocate short track Olympian Sung Shibak's feelings, but she has some reservations about that.
When DJ Choi Hwajung asked KARA, 「Have you seen the interview where Sung Shibak picked Han Seungyeon as his ideal type?」 to which KARA replied, 「Of course!」
Han Seungyeon trailed in, adding,
After Sung Shibak's interview, everyone around me started asking a lot of questions. I've even heard that I'm the ideal type of Korea's national representative. I feel really honored, but he's too popular. I'm a little intimidated by his fans. Maybe later when everything quiets down…
The DJ then asked Han Seungyeon to leave Sung Shibak a message, and Seungyeon complied by telling her admirer, 「I'm so relieved that you came back unharmed and healthy. Thank you; I watched your interview well. If I ever get the chance… dot, dot, dot.」 Causing even her KARA members to question her as to what 『dot, dot, dot』 meant.
Considering Lupin's immense popularity on the k-charts lately, Sung Shibak should be equally scared of the Kamilia power. But lucky for him, Han Seungyeon's left all possibilities open!
Kim Jongkook's Eyes are on the Prize
Kim Jongkook, the self-proclaimed playboy who has trouble choosing between Lee Hyori and Yoon Eunhye, has finally settled down and confessed his true ideal type. Who, you ask? None other than the gold medalist in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics 500m Women's Speed Skating, Lee Sanghwa.
On the March 4th broadcast of SBS One Night's TV Entertainment, Kim Jongkook revealed, 「Lee Sanghwa's beauty, charm, and strong thighs are my ideal type.」
He also added on bits about his interest in Yoon Eunhye, 「I like round faces that aren't too skinny, but lately Yoon Eunhye's appearance has been the one for me.」
Let's hope he can make up his mind soon… his list of ideal types and past girlfriends is starting to make me dizzy!
Kim Yuna Featuring 2ne1 for Seoul Spirit
Gold medalist Kim Yuna is Korea's number one celebrity after mesmerizing everyone with her victorious win in Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010. Due to that, Kim Yuna will promote Seoul in a documentary called Seoul Spirit.
Seoul Spirit is the third installment of Hip Korea-Seoul that Seoul City and Discovery Channel both produced to promote Seoul. The documentary will run for 60 minutes and will also feature 「women power」 in Korea. With these promotions, 2Ne1 and astronaut Yi Soyeon will also be interviewed.
According to Yoon YoungSeok, the chief of the city's global marketing division, he claimed to 「anticipate that the documentary will grab the attention of people around the world as Kim won gold at the Vancouver Olympics. We will actively seek to promote the good image of Seoul around the world by capitalizing on it,」
Seoul aims for the documentary to also air in China, Europe and America. Which means that those countries would not only see the great places of Seoul, but a glimpse of 2Ne1.
