Today my wife asked "Why does my GSF keep shifting gear down on the highway?" when she drove it. I looked at speed meter. It was around 130 km/h and engine rpm was about 2000. I said "Of course, it needs more power and the gear ratio is too low"

She also asked "Why M35X doesn't need to shift gear down?" I said "at that speed M35X engine rpm should be around 3500. It is always in sport(battle) state and doesn't need any down gear"

I also found GSF received similar MPG as my old G35S...

PS: after 2009 many G/M/Q receive new 7 speed auto which improve MPG on highway. (but in city MPG is still about the same)

Today I drove my old G35S. Believe or not. I felt it was even faster than ever before again!!! I just slightly push my throttle a little bit from standstill. The traction control was flashing like crazy. (The rear was very sticky 245 performance summer tires) This also sometimes lets me feel that this OLD car maybe is too powerful...

So conclusion is changing oil with Mobil 1 every 5K does NOT waste your money if you want 12 years old car(or even older) run FASTER than it was brand new...

PS: the spark plugs in my G are already over 100K kms now. I'm too lazy to change them recently. Maybe after 130K or 160K...

I think the new GSF have one more benefit...

If I put in normal mode, I become more calm and patient. Why? Because I will not always feel that other cars are so slow all the time. And I won't feel so upset if the car in front of me is too slow.

The slower also the safer...

Of course newer engines feel faster but when full throttle older engines are faster actually.

However my new GSF feels slower. Why? Because GSF throttle program set up are less aggressive. It will not only save gas(environment), I also find it will save my rear tires(RWD)...

2017 GSF (467 hp)
period : one year
mileage : 10K km
tire : Michelin PSS
usage : 1.5mm <<<<

2007 G35S (305 hp)
period : one year
mileage : 10K km
tire : Bridgestone RE-760
usage : 3mm <<<<

I used PSS before. In my experience PSS is more sticky and wear faster than RE-760.

So from the above data I think G35S should be much faster when I drove it... (due to very aggressive throttle setup)

What's even worse is that I've installed very stable coilover on my G. So I drove G so fast and didn't know it.

(I think I need to slow down a little bit...)

PS: I've also installed front+rear camber kits in my G. So the alignment from my G is perfectly on the factory spec. So the tires from my G wore evenly and beautifully...

RE-760 is good when dry but so so when wet. I'm in California. So it should be good most of time.

I usually change my G's rear tires every 2 years (32K km). When I changed them, they were almost bald. (no tread). That's because no rain during summer in California. (Do NOT try it in Taiwan...)

So the conclusion is I need to drive GSF a little bit faster... (give it more throttle)

Don't be afraid. My old G didn't break down so this Toyota engine will NOT break down, of course.

The below is front tires.

2017 GSF (467 hp)
period : one year
mileage : 10K km
tire : Michelin PSS
usage : 1mm <<<<

2007 G35S (305 hp)
period : two year
mileage : 26K km
tire : Bridgestone RE-760
usage : 3mm <<<<

It seems both GSF and G35S run equally fast at corner...

In fact GSF should run faster than G but I don't want to do it because it's too dangerous in public roads...

I think Lexus is like fine wine, upper class and my personality is more like 老粗. That's reason why I don't like my GSF that much...

我覺得雷克薩斯就像精品酒，上層階級，我的個性更像老粗。這就是為什麼我不太喜歡我的GSF ....
