根據美國知名消費者團體刊物《消費者報告 (Consumer Reports)》周日 (19 日) 在官方網站上對會員公布最新評價，三星 (Samsung)(005930-KR) 新一代旗艦智慧手機 Galaxy S4 取代 LG (樂金)(066570-KR) 的 Optimus G，一舉登上最佳智慧手機排名冠軍寶座。
美國媒體《CNN》報導，《消費者報告》的評級涵蓋多項測試內容，包括使用難易度、顯示器與音效品質、容易攜帶程度與電池續航力。《消費者報告》在新聞稿中指出，Galaxy S4 在大部分關鍵測試項目中奪得最佳評分，包括攝影機表現。
報導指出，推出僅一個月的 Galaxy S4 總評超越 Optimus G，將後者擠下霸占數月之久的冠軍寶座落居第二。宏達電 (HTC)(2498-TW) 新一代旗艦手機新 HTC One 評價則屈居第三名位置，排名第四的是三星前代旗艦機 Galaxy S3，蘋果 (Apple)(AAPL-US) 的 iPhone 5 只拿下第五名。
《消費者報告》評分顯示，在美國電訊商 AT&T 提供的版本當中，S4 以總分 81 分奪冠，Optimus G 總分 79 居次，新 One 排第三。電訊商斯普林特 (Sprint Nextel)(S-US) 版本當中，S4 也以總分 79 打敗總分 77 的 Optimus G 及新 One。而在電訊商 T-Mobile 的版本中，S4 獲 81 評分，超越新 One 的 79 分。

Samsung Galaxy S4 performance is top-notch

The Samsung Galaxy S 4, one of the most advanced Android smart phones ever, is our new top-rated smart phone. The S4 delivered top-notch performance in the most critical areas of our tests, including the camera.

It dethrones the LG Optimus G, which occupied the top spot in our Ratings for several months.

The S4 has an excellent 5-inch, high-definition (1080p) touch-screen display, as well as oodles of gesture- and sensor-based tools for accessing and sharing content you create and capture on your phone. The display is sensitive enough to use with gloves on—handy during cold weather.

A true multi-tasker, the S4 lets you run two apps simultaneously in a split-screen view. For instance, you can watch a video while checking e-mail, or you can use Google Maps and Messaging simultaneously. We did find that battery life and voice quality varied slightly between cell carriers, as with the LG Optimus G.

Couch potatoes should enjoy the Galaxy S 4's built-in IR blaster, which can be programmed to control HDTVs and set-top boxes (and even initiate DVR recordings) from a host of different makers. It also shows you local cable listings, program details, and reminders geared to your preferences.

On May 15, Google announced its own unlocked version of the S 4, which will be available in the Google Play Store on June 26 for $649. This unlocked model will run on AT&T's and T-Mobile's 4G LTE data networks.

Like the other Nexus models, the unlocked S 4 will run "raw" Android without the interface and app embellishments typically added by the phone maker and carriers. One rumor, unconfirmed by Google, is that this S4 will be the first to run Android 4.3. We're anxious to see what impact these differences will have on the user experience, including performance.
