The departures also followed a change in the company's internal reporting structure for senior executives. Senior executives at HTC used to report directly to U.S.-based operational head Jason MacKenzie, but after he was reassigned to be in charge of sales support early this year, those executives reported directly to Mr. Chou.
Yuanta Securities analyst Dennis Chan said decision-making will be more centralized to the hands of a few key people at HTC which is a positive development for the company.
"It's probably good for the company in terms of making decisions more quickly given more executives mean more opinions on product and strategy and that will slow things down," Mr. Chan said.
