The US version of the fifth-generation Elantra debuted at 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. It is powered by a new 1.8-L Nu engine producing 148 hp (145 hp-PZEV) and 131 lb-ft (130 lb-ft-PZEV). EPA mileage estimates are 29 mpg-US (8.1 L/100 km; 35 mpg-imp) in the city and 40 mpg-US (5.9 L/100 km; 48 mpg-imp) on the highway. The fuel economy was increased with a low coefficient of drag, of just 0.28. Also, the Nu 1.8li engine block is made from aluminum instead of the older cast iron. With an off center piston to crankshaft position, Hyundai engineers have optimized the engine for efficiency. Gas millage estimates of 40/29 have been called into question by Consumer Watchdog a Santa Monica CA consumer group and USA Today's tech writer Jefferson Graham who claims to get combined city/highway mpg of 22mpg. Also, Motor Trend magazine also noted that the Elantra only gets 25.9 mpg city/highway combined.

藉著0.28的低風阻系數創造出高速17km/L市區12.33km/L的低油耗(我都幫你換算好了, 有沒有很貼心?)
但是USA Today的記者只測出9.35km/L(跟我在開差不多)
另外Motor Trend汽車雜誌也只測出11km/L的綜合油耗
所以原廠的數據還是看看就好
