Fujitsu-Siemens have formally announced their plans to release a Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for the Loox 718 and 720. The relevant part of the press release is reproduced below:

Munich/Germany, June 20, 2005 - Fujitsu Siemens Computers will offer the Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade in fall 2005 for the following handhelds:
Pocket LOOX 718
Pocket LOOX 720
The new software enables users to take advantage of several new productivity and multimedia enhancements, like updated Microsoft Office programs, Direct3D Mobile support and Windows Media Player 10. It also supports persistent storage capability, helping to protect against the loss of personal data and applications when batteries discharge completely. The upgrade packages will be available this fall when the operating system is released at:
