HP Hx2700 series VS Dell Axim X50v

I would like to buy a new PDA before chinese new year, so as to upgrade my present PPC. However, I found the market has two very similar handheld targeting the same potential customers......

When I compared the two yesterday, Dell was a bit attractive because of its display (VGA + 3.7" TFT). It is unquestionable that HP is one of the renowned and reliable brand in PDA market. Its new handheld, Hx2700 series, is one of the high-end product which will be seen as targeting on Dell X50v. As the product supports fingerprint, it is hard to decide which one is worthwhile......

For brand cult, I will definitely choose HP..... (around HK$4080 ~ 4280)
For fuctionality, I will choose Dell..... (currently on sale as low as HK$3200 $$$)

What should I do??

其實個人覺得不一定要追求品牌，
(話說Dell的牌子也不會比HP小到那去…)
拋去這層迷思之後，
就規格、性能、價格來比，
看不出來x50v那點輸了。

以小弟使用的經驗來講，
x50v機子穩定，
沒有什麼惱人的小毛病，
國外的論壇上也很少看到大家討論出共同的問題。
唯一比較不足的地方，
在於電力還是不夠… (常跑遊戲、上網的話。聽mp3和看電影則是相當省電)
強烈建議多買一顆電池。

另外要分享一下Dell的服務經驗，
真的是超級讚的，
其陣子小弟的按鍵不知如何一睡不醒，
請朋友代為聯絡客服之後，
我的機子還沒寄到美國，
Dell就已經將新機寄到他那了。
而且收到後裡裡外外檢查了一下(包含soft reset的次數)，
確定是"新機"!
這種售後服務是很令人激賞的。

目前Dell又出新的ROM來改進小功能及效能，
這點大概就不是現在常被罵到臭頭的HP願意做的。

小弟沒用過2700系列無從比較，
只是要告訴您，
買x50v不會後悔。

關於X50V用Betaplayer看電影的使用小技巧。
若設定在power saving mode時雖然很省電，但萬一電影流量過大（超過3M/S，功夫在打鬥的場景可能還超過4M/S），此時因為CPU和2700G都未跑全速，會有delay情形發生。設Normal mode讓CPU跑520MHZ又太浪費，auto mode又未必會降頻至416MHZ。此時可以用其他軟體（XCPUSCALAR...）將CPU強制降頻至312MHZ（或416MHZ，視電影流量而定），在此種情況下2700G會跑全速。

個人測試的結果跑4M/S Betaplayer High performance benchmark的影片（VGADivX4MbpsVBR23fps128kbps44kHz.avi）
CPU 312MHZ約96.67％
CPU 416MHZ約114.87%
CPU 520MHZ約127.03％
CPU 624MHZ約139.38％

用X50V看電影最大的好處—不用把時間浪費在降解析度轉檔上。用這個方法再配上大容量1G的SD卡，相信你也會發現X50V魅力所在。

看來略遜dell x50v一籌，不過vga的根qvga不知怎麼比，還有就是不知道跟betaplayer的細部設定有沒有關。

X50V is highly recommended.

I placed an order in China two weeks age and got it after 3~4 days.

That's amazing...

I initially thought I would get that 7~8 days later...

Sigh..., Taiwaner has to buy the good stuff(Made in Taiwan) from China...(I'm a Taiwaner...)

Up to now, it works great and I haven't found anything bad.

The profile is gorgeous.

From my point of view, it looks far more beautiful than those other typical models...(I'm just a beginner in PDA)

The promotion of 20% discount for all models is expired tomorrow(Feb/6 in China).

$RMB3999 after discount for X50V.

Get online in Dell China to check it out.

I wish I could help those who like it get one.

Although, I'll go back Taiwan next week, I'm afraid I can help get you one in time...
