Do the Blue Angels Fight in Combat? 8 Facts to Know About the Blue Angels Pilots
「A G-suit is a flight suit typically worn by aviators that is designed to rapidly inflate and deflate to counteract the effects of acceleration pressure in a plane, such as blood pooling in the lower part of the body and then rushing to their heads, which can cause pilots to pass out. However, Blue Angels pilots do not wear G-suits, as the inflation and deflation of the suit would interfere with the control stick between the pilots’ legs and impact flight safety.」
補上Quora網友的說明 Why do Blue Angels pilots not wear G-suits?
「Because the F/A-18E/F aircraft, like the C/D model legacy Hornets before them, use a central stick. The stick is fitted with a spring tension system in the Blue Angels jets to exert a forward pull of 40 pounds. So to stay level the pilot has to pull back with a constant 40 pound pull. This tension is to allow the pilot to have a finer degree of control and prevents any overcontrol of the aircraft which would be catastrophic when you’re flying 18 inches from your teammate.
As a result, the pilots will rest their right arm on their thigh to help support the stick loads and further dampen out any unwanted movements. Guess where the G-suit is? Around their thighs and stomach. When the G-suit inflates it would interfere with that fine degree control or trying to avoid unintentional movements of the stick important to such close formation flying.」
