LSE has received a number of queries regarding the academic status of our alumna, Dr Tsai Ing-wen, President of Taiwan.

We can be clear the records of LSE and of the University of London - the degree awarding body at the time - confirm that Dr Tsai was correctly awarded a PhD in Law in 1984.
LSE 於1984年正確無誤地頒發博士學位給蔡博士.

All degrees from that period were awarded via the University of London and the thesis would have been sent first to their Senate House Library.

The Senate House Library records confirm that a copy was received and sent by them to the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS). There is a listing of Dr Tsai’s thesis ‘Unfair trade practices and safeguard actions’ in the IALS index document “Legal Research in the United Kingdom 1905-1984”, which was published in 1985.

Dr Tsai recently provided the LSE Library with a facsimile of a personal copy of the thesis, Unfair trade practices and safeguard actions which is available to view in the Library Reading Room. We understand Dr Tsai has also provided a digital version of her personal copy to the National Central Library of Taiwan.

全世界的私人企業,公家單位,乃至司法單位查證學位真偽,
誰不是以頒發學位的大學說法為準 ?

LSE不堪其擾,在它的官網上放了這則聲明,
還是有人要質疑蔡總統的博士學位.

頒發學位的LSE沒資格證實學位真偽?
博士學位是真是假,不是LSE說了算,
而是台灣這些痛恨蔡英文的酸民說了算嗎?

好啦!
只要是酸民們不喜歡的政治人物,他們取得的學位全數為假 ,
頒發學位的著名大學說的全都不算數,這樣好不好 ?

以後LSE要頒發學位,都要來台灣問彭文正看看可以不可以?
LSE要頒學位之前,都要先來台灣問問酸民同意不同意?

以後國外學歷拿回來能不能用,還要問彭文正嗎?

那種排名都進不了100的學店畢業生，質疑前幾名的學校造假。
對啦!你最厲害，別人都是白癡，去讀Oxford、Cambridge、UCL、LSE的都是笨蛋，
那些學校都是靠賣學位在賺錢的。

蔡英文總統日前參訪Dcard，帶了倫敦政經學院的畢業證書，卻被政論節目稱證書「穿越時空」，還說整件事情疑雲重重。倫敦政經學院對此表示蔡所展示的畢業證書，其實就只是補發，且校方對於台灣持續追問這件事已感不勝其擾。

據中央社報導，蔡總統透過影片分享參訪狄卡科技公司（Dcard），並表示為了申請 Dcard 帳號，她還帶了倫敦政經學院（LSE）的畢業證書，「是有鋼印的」，事後卻遭政論節目質疑，證書上簽名的校長和她當年畢業時的校長不一致。

報導指出，LSE台灣研究計畫室的協同主任施芳瓏表示，蔡總統這張博士學位證書不是1984年頒授的原始證書，簽名的不是當年倫敦大學的校務校長奎爾克（Randolph Quirk，任期1981-1985年），而是後來的校長史密斯（Adrian Smith，任期2012-2018年）。

施芳瓏表示，至於為何不拿出原始證書，校方不會過問，因為是蔡總統私人的事情，可能需要翻箱倒櫃去找，也可能找不到，還不如向大學申請補發比較快；若是因為這樣就質疑證書是造假，「難不成倫敦大學隨便哪一個人來申請補發，就會發給一張現職校長簽名的證書嗎」？

施芳瓏說，台灣各方人士（蔡總統支持者與反對者）為了蔡總統的學歷不間斷去詢問LSE，校方已經不勝其擾，同事們莫可奈何。先前校方才再次發布聲明表示，「我們檢查了我們的紀錄，倫敦政經學院和倫敦大學都證實蔡英文於1984年獲得法學博士學位。」LSE並提供當年獲頒學位的學生名單，Ing-Wen Tsai出現在Higher Degrees Awarded 1983-84 Ph.D. 欄下，並反問：「您們台灣還要我們怎麼查？」

她表示，如果還有人要再一直查問下去，懷疑的已不只是蔡總統，連倫敦政經學院，甚至整個倫敦大學的學術公信力都遭到懷疑。
