來說一下我的看法
個人認為運動員(不分種類)一定是一代勝過一代，除非是沒落的沒人投入的運動
隨便舉一下用比較公平的計時賽來說，像田徑短跑的Bolt 還是游泳的 M Phelps都是當代最強，都是打破一堆前人紀錄的現任保持者
但未來一定有人還會打破他們現在的紀錄，這是毫無疑問的

如果把卡爾路易士的成績放到現在來看，好像也沒什麼
連亞洲選手都有人可以突破到 10秒內了
但這種隔代比法本來就不公平
現在的訓練法、技巧、飲食、投入運動的人數，還有最重要的錢，這些條件都比過去要多要好
像現在很多人長的比自己老爸高，廢話，以後你兒子八成也會長的比你高

回到籃球場
以前MJ的時代哪有那麼多人可以跳那麼高，體能那麼勁爆
魔術強森的時代哪有現在這麼多快攻的戰術
Dr J的年代哪有幾個可以罰球線灌籃的(現在連高中生都可以了) orz

張伯倫的時代哪有那麼多高大球員(大部分中鋒只有6尺9/6尺10)
Bill Rusell的年代還不是一個統一的聯盟咧
有人說現在沒中鋒，不像以前四大中鋒的年代
其實不然，是因為現在的規則不利於中鋒，拉出去打大前鋒會更佔優勢也好發揮

說了那麼多其實都無損這些球員的價值
因為他們都是在"他們的當代最好的"
在自己的年代
能脫離競爭而出成為最強才是真實的

20 years ago, almost every good team had a decent 7 footer (or a guy close to 7 feet) to play center - other than those 4 great centers, you got Parish from Celtics, Catwright from Bulls, Mark Eaton from Jazz, Jack Sigma from Bucks, Duckworth from T'Blazers, Divac from Lakers, Laimbeer from Pistons, Kevin Wills from Hawks, Rik Smits from Pacers, Mike Gminski from Phils. Where are those 7 footers nowaday? Even the quality of PF comes down comparing to late 90' we had still efficient Malone & Barkley and young guns like Webber KG, Duncan, Wallace.

Can't believe a 18 and 12 guy is our best center in 2013.. sign!!

I think the hand checking rule is overblown.

just look at some stats of parameter guys like
Kobe, AI, Pierce and TMac they are all consistent throughout 04-07

Also centers like
KG and TD consistent as well

It probably favored shooters alot more than centers, but zone defense is also in effect today, so 3-pointers become so important. But these scorers performance stay consistent. However, the #1 go to person might shifted from Center to Swingman sharpshooters.

KG & TD played Power Forward at the beginning of their careers. Recently, both of them play center regularly(TD played center on and off after the retirement of David Robinson) because teams couldn't find a decent centers to accompany with them and also the small ball became the trend.

I think in a couple years the trend will shift back to interior presence if teams like Bulls or Pacers (both with eligible centers) can defeat Heat in payoff.
