On a night when Ed Davis played fewer minutes than any other Laker that checked into the game, he made perhaps the biggest impact on both sides of the floor.
Davis only saw 12 minutes of action in the Lakers’ 98-95 preseason win over the Denver Nuggets. Davis still poured in 12 points off the bench and swatted a game-high four shots in San Diego on Monday.
After the game in an interview with Time Warner Cable SportsNet, Davis credited fellow Laker newcomer Jeremy Lin for his offensive success.
“Jeremy found me on a lot of easy looks,” said Davis, with humility. “I just had to lay the ball up. I caught it around the basket. But other than that, I’m happy that we got this win.”
Davis knocked down six of his seven field goal attempts, thriving off the pick and roll with Lin. Of Davis’ baskets, four came off passes from Lin.
“(Davis) just did a great job of keeping it simple, reading the defense and making easy plays,” Lin said. “He’d catch it on the elbow and be able to just pace himself, and because people are scared to leave some of the shooters, the lane kind of opened up for him."
