“First of all I want to apologize to our countrymen in Taiwan. We wanted to win this game for them because they've been subjected to a lot of abuse,” said Gilas head coach Chot Reyes.
Chot Reyes: “First of all, I want to apologize to our countrymen in Taiwan. We know that they have been victims of a lot of abuse. We really wanted to dedicate this game to them but unfortunately it didn’t turn out. I should have done a better job in rotating and pacing our players. We spent a lot of energy in our chase and we didn’t have that energy in the end so that’s the story of the ball game.”
“We are very aware of that possibility (of facing China in the quarterfinals). Our point is to get into the quarterfinals. Second place in our group doesn’t mean anything. what’s most important is the (placing) in the next round.”
