NBA Rumors: Jeremy Lin to Dallas, ‘worst-case scenario’ for Mavericks Justin Gloria - June 6, 2016
Jeremy Lin, who is one of the top free agent point guards in the 2016 free agency, is seen as a “worst-case scenario” acquisition for the Dallas Mavericks, according to a report. NBA rumors has involved the Asian-American guard in different speculation so far this offseason as he is set to explore free agency after a season with the Charlotte Hornets.
Eddie Sefko of Dallas News opines that the Mavericks will have a poor offseason if they manage to get only the likes of Lin and other second tier free agents rather than the “A-list” players available in the free agent market.
“If they end up with guys like Marreese Speights and Jeremy Lin and Evan Turner, then you know things have gone awry,” Sefko wrote when asked about the “worst-case scenario” for the Mavericks’ moves in the 2016 free agency. “They need at least one A-list guy, like Conley or Horford or Dwight Howard or Ryan Anderson. Two would be better.”
Jeremy Lin is considered one of the top point guards available in the free agent market with star PGs like Rajon Rondo and Mike Conley ahead of him. While Lin is not an All-Star, he is coming off his best NBA season in his first year for the Hornets.

Earlier in the offeason, Lin stated that money is not important in free agency and that he’s happy with his role in Charlotte. However, there are teams like the Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks, among others that can give him a starting point guard role and possibly bigger salary this summer.
Free agents officially begins July 1 later this year and Jeremy Lin will continue to be part of the NBA rumors as he decides on which team he’ll play for next season.
