David Fizdale 對部分球迷的印象，應該是又一個曾經弄糟尼克的那個教練 ( 開季 4–18 被炒魷魚 ! )。Former Grizzlies & Knicks coach preferred being reunited with LeBron, being home in LA and Lakers title chances. LeBron & Fiz communicated after latter agreed to deal.
不過，早在 LeBron 待熱火的時期，兩人就共事過了。 Erik Spoelstra 在 2008 年接任熱火總教練開始，David Fizdale 也在他的副手位置待了 8 個球季，當然包含了 2012、 2013 二連霸時期。
