[詢問]US Lenovo Thinkpad W700採購

Hi all

最近為了購買筆電的事情,掙扎了許久,原本看上T400s全新界面改革,但對於它的內建顯晶片實在無法接受

且國外保固尚未有三年保固可加購,考量到筆電為工作上使用,須長時間作業,加上工作內容大部分為程式撰寫工作,

資料處理,因此改變目標,轉到W700上,看上它強悍的功能,擴充性!應足以應付我接下來三年的工作!

想請問一下有在美國買過W700的前輩是否能提供一些意見?!小弟想趁現在W700獨立紀念日特價(到7/31日止)

25%的優惠,比起CPP 15-20%的優惠更多!

或是有在國外購買過lenovo的前輩都希望能分享一下您的購買經驗,以及注意事項!謝謝

BTW最近發現一個怪事情,W700(2757CTO)在IWS網站上查無資料,而W500台灣為發售的卻有IWS真是怪了

不知道這樣W700在台灣是否維修上會有問題?

最近終於搞定所有購買程序，已經委託美國友人進行採購，預計9/10日拿到機器！

至於為什麼要等快一個半月，因為是委託友人購買，友人預計待在美國一個月多，

因此需等一個多月！待友人返國後在進行開箱

As far as repair wise, it's a very rare notebook in TW but I don't think Lenovo TW would have any problem repairing it, but maybe there will be a waiting time for parts.

Please do note that it is a huge notebook, it won't fit into 99% of the computer bags out there on the market. The power adapter is big as well, about the size of a brick.

Another thing, W700 has a keyboard that will flex on the left side, this is due to Lenovo changed the keyboard back from a metal plate to a mesh styled back plate. If that's something you care, the solution is buy a T61 keyboard and fit it to W700, this is what many people did in Lenovo forum.

Many people complained about this earlier this year (in Lenovo forum) so Lenovo USA exchanged many keyboards for W700 owners, but now they don't do that anymore, instead, if you called and complained about the keyboard, they will exchange it, but they won't give you the T61 keyboard anymore, they will just give you the exact same W700 keyboard.

Lenovo now says keyboard flex is something that user may not like, but it's not a defect, and they can't exchange another model's parts for W700.

所以說是鍵盤的問題不是機器本身的問題囉?!那有FRU料號嗎?我原本以為W700的鍵盤和數字鍵盤是一體式,

原來是分開的阿!

還沒用過所以不知道鍵盤左邊下陷之實際情況,等到手之後再看看是否超出容忍值吧!

As for keyboard, yes, T61 will fit (I don't know the FRU, but it's simple to identify, if you see metal plate on the back, then it's the correct one. New design has mesh style plate instead of a whole metal plate).

Personally I use the keyboard that came with it, but I also have a T61p, so I could swap them if I want to.

Another suggestion, select the cheapest HD options and then upgrade with better parts later by yourself. Keep in mind, if you plan to use SSD for your main HD, you don't need to buy the turbo memory.

By the way, I found out that Lenovo said they changed to mesh plate to save weight (and probably cost).

關於硬碟的部分,他設定RAID不用加錢,硬碟最低階兩個選項,DUAL 160G 7200rpm & DUAL 250G 5400rpm!

這個DUAL是指兩顆的意思嗎?那前輩有設定RAID嗎？我想說都組RAID 0那就把容量加大好了就選250G

沒有選轉速較快的160G!買這一台後可能要過一陣子才有錢再升級了,SSD目前還不敢妄想

For HD options, W700 support a total of 3 HDs. Two in drivebay and one in ultrabay (if you don't want the Blu ray/CD-ROM), this is not counting express card slots.

You can enable RAID later by yourself, which means, you can purchase cheap HD from Lenovo and then buy bigger and faster HD for your RAID configurations. Just remember, they should be identical HD.

No, I don't use RAID myself, my work doesn't require it.

If you do plan to use SSD later, then you don't need to spend money on turbo memory.

你知道Lenovo寄送過來時箱子的尺寸嗎?請人貨運要進行估價,在官方網頁上只找到機器的尺寸Dimensions
16.1 x 12.2 x 1.6" 410x310x41mm Weight 3.76kg (8.3lb),沒有整個箱子的大小!

那再問一下關於運送回台灣有推薦的貨運及運送方式嗎?

Sorry I don't have the dimensions, I only brought back the W700 and the charger. And I don't know which shipping method you should use because it sounds like you won't be in the US to pick it up.

Perhaps other people knows more about this.
