學英文: 如何克服一字多義?

正在努力學英文、但有一個很困擾的問題、有時一個單字有好多種意思、例如: note 、我一直以為只有筆記的意思、因為看到這句子

This note is no longer current .這種紙幣已不流通

想說note不是筆記的意思嗎? 何時變紙幣了、結果一查、有好多意思~~ 請問英文好的人、這有什麼方法克服嗎?

若只看英文 This note is no longer current 還要想這個note現在是什麼意思? 是英文不夠流利才會有這種困擾、還是久了就不會了?
