So, overall my son's G35S and my wife's M35X had always been driven at SPORT+ mode on the highway... Now G35S is for almost 15 year and 200K km old and M35X is over 12 year and almost 100K km old and they are still extremely reliable now!!!

Again, I really have to say these Nissans are so much underrated!!!

Of course, I will keep using SPORT+ mode in my GSF if needed as SPORT+ mode is nothing for my GSF's V8 engine and its 8AT... (I think I can constantly use SPORT+ mode on the highway without any problems but I will NOT do it because it will kill the rear tires very quickly just like my son's G35S...)

Actually Nissan is not alone...

BMW also let their M cars equipped with NA engines run at such a high rpm constantly on the highway...
E46 M3 V6(MT) ==> 2900rpm
E92 M3 V8 ==> 3000rpm
E60 M5 V10 ==> 2800rpm
G35S V6 ==> 2900rpm

I also check the MPGs... Actually Nissan gets very good MPG on the highway (Like I said before Nissan's MPG on the highway is actually very good!!! )
E46 M3 V6(MT) ==> 8.93 km/L
E92 M3 V8 ==> 8.5 km/L
E60 M5 V10 ==> 7.23 km/L
G35S V6 ==> 10.63 km/L

In addition, Nissan doesn't only has much better MPG but Nissan also lasts much longer!!!

Some people say that Nissan is Japanese Chrysler...

Actually I kind of agreed... (if only compared with Toyota and Honda)

But, what I would like to say is... Actually Japanese Chrysler is still much more reliable than German's Toyota, Mercedes!!!

PS: If you don't know... Chrysler engines usually are more torquy... Chrysler also could be the most unreliable brand among American cars...

I also checked E92 330 which is equipped with NA engines... Yes. The rpm on the highway is only 2400rpm...

So, Nissan's target was M cars... Nissan tried to provide M cars' performance but with only non-performance cars' MPG!!!

BMW is not stupid... So, BMW produced 335 which had even better MPG... (Used new turbo technology to lower down the rpm but still had good torque)

However, those turbos will reduce reliability A LOT!!! (Like I said everything has pros and cons. In my opinion, the con is much bigger than the pro especially for a longer period)

Actually I think my GSF could be a win win situation for me... Why?

As modern ATs become smarter and advanced... My GSF can cruise on the highways with only about 2000rpm(normal mode) Then, if needed I can change to sport+ mode any time to push my GSF a bit more...

So, I could have M cars' performances and non-M cars' MPGs and tire consumption rates at the same time!!!

Of course, there is a drawback... I have to change the driving mode more often... Or, I need to drive my GSF like MTs which could be a bit of work for many average drivers, but not for car enthusiasts like me... (especially for Honda guys!!! )

In addition, I still keep NA engines' reliability, simplicity, top-end performance, sound, etc.

Again... This philosophy more targets on SMART fast, not STUPID fast...

Like I said before... Japanese definitely make better engines... Their engines may not be the fastest but definitely the most efficient!!!

Again, like I said before... Nissan engines may consume more gas than Toyota and Hondas' in city traffic...

The reason is... Nissan engines are a bit more torquey and aggressive in city traffic or at lower rpm...

I think I could be wrong...

The redline of the latest Honda 3.5 V6 NA engine should be around 6800rpm which is much lower than the redline of my son's G35S which is 7600rpm!!!

I also checked the previous generation IS350 XE20...

Th rpm on the highway for that little Lexus is 2350rpm... Compared with 2900rpm in my son's G35S the Lexus is much tamer...

However, believe it or not... In fact, both official MPGs on the highway are the same 10.63 km/L!!! (of course, the real MPG could still be different)

PS: I think in the real life, Lexus should still be better but it's not very important anymore if you understand that this aggressive Nissan could provide M car like performance on the highway all the time!!! (constantly at SPORT+ mode)

So far I only talked about how aggressive my son's G35S was...

Actually my wife's M35X has the exactly same engine and transmission as G35S. So, my wife's M35X on the highways is as aggressive as my son's G35S...

The only difference is M35X is about 500lbs heavier and slower... And, M35X is AWD instead of RWD...

Although M35X is heavier and has less efficient AWD, its MPG on the highway is 9.35 km/L and is still better than much lighter M3's...
