I think my previous 2007 G35S (KW V3, PSS10) was TOO HARDCORE!!! Even my previous 2000 Maxima(Koni Sport + H&R) was too hardcore!!!
Since I was fooled by those biased comments(ONLY European cars are FUN!!!) I always tuned my modified cars to the stiff settings!!! Actually all my previous modified cars were TOO FUN!!!
Now I tune softer on my GSF(Ohlins 16K/12K) by changing to the softer settings on the Ohlins dampers and reducing tire pressures. Guess what... It still feels much better than 2018 M4(competition) and my modified GSF still feels like GT3!!!
In addition, I also begin to LOVE my wife's M35X's stock suspension more!!!
Today I just drove my son's 2007 G35S (PSS10)... The last time I drove his G was one year ago... Again, I still loved that ride!!!
However, I found the steering on his G was a little too quick and immediate for him. My son is a new driver and his driving skill is a bit raw on the highway. Therefore, when he is driving his G on highway, the super quick and immediate handling on his G sometimes scares me... (My son is a slow driver. So he doesn't speeding his G but that steering is a different story...)
The thing gets even worse... It seems he doesn't realize it....
This morning I drove my son's very old and high mileage 2007 G35S(PSS10, Eibach sway bars, two rear Ultra Racing chassis braces) on mountain roads for about 120km(80 minutes). I have to say this old G is still A LOT OF FUN!!! (very similar to my modified GSF) 😀😀👍👍
The current PSS10 setting is 6/4 and tire pressure is 30psi(3 psi lower than the factory tire pressure) . The ride is still very stable and COMFORTABLE!!!
I think GSF's steering is a little more direct and clear (less rubber feel) thanks to its new and stiffer body...
I also drove my wife's 2010 M35X (stock suspension). Of course, her M in no way closed to similar feel from my son's modified G and my modified GSF but her stock M is still more fun than many cars on the road including BMWs!!! 😀😀👍👍
In the past I was always fooled by those stupid comments about how good BMWs were???As a result, I always tuned my Koni, KW V3, PSS10 to very stiff in the past.
After I drove 2018 M4(competition) for 400KM, I finally realized it's a SCAM actually. (Maybe they are a little bit better but definitely not THAT good!!!)
So I soft down PSS10 and reduce 3psi for the tire pressures. I actually find my son's G is stable, comfortable and still very fun!!!
In fact I drove many German cars such as 335, 530, Cayman S, C350, A4, etc for the last 10 years. I always felt they were just OK but I could not be so sure because the testing period was short.
I did drove 320i for one week but it's among the cheapest BMWs. So again I was not sure...
However, after I drove 2018 M4(competition) for 400km, I'm VERY SURE this time!!!
