In my opinion that thermostat is still OK. It's just like a leaky faucet and not in a PERFECT condition as the car still warm up as quick as before and the MPG doesn't drop. However, emission regulation is very strict, no matter your car is new or old!!!

Now we have to find a repair shop... Guess what... Now my son has to work during weekdays and there is not many repair shops opened in the weekend!!!
(If I'm 10 years younger, I think I will fix it by myself!!!)PS: Maybe a leaky faucet is not a good example as a leaky faucet could leak 24 hour a day, 7 day a week but the thermostat in my son's Nissan only becomes leaky within the first 6 minutes since the engine starts...

)
(We have to fix the problem... Otherwise, my son's car will not pass the SMOG test and cannot get the car registration next year. i.e. My son cannot drive his Nissan any more next year!!!)

(I just re-solder a contact point in a China-made PCB board)

)
(so far the repairing cost is still minimal... Knock on wood!!!
