The below is what DENSO suggests... Surprisingly, DENSO claims their long life spark plugs could last at least 190K kms!!!

Actually I still keep those old spark plugs I changed 10 years ago. They're all from Nissan factory, used for 100K kms and still looks good...

In addition, I think my son's car already enters another different stage now which is... If the problem is not required to be fixed, then just leave it there... (He will sell his car 3-4 years later)

This also reminds me of my colleague's 2006 325i(E90). 10 years ago, I told him it's better to change the dampers for his BMW if the car got older, even though the old dampers still worked. Guess what... He responded unhappily... "I have already spent a lot of money in repairing this BMW now. So, I will not spend any more money if it's not required!!!" (Now I think totally understand what he thought...)

PS: Fortunately, we still haven't spent a lot of money in repairing G35S yet so far... (Knock on wood!!! Hope my son's car can continue like that... Go! Go! Nissan!!!)

Actually we also consider some electric cars for our next cars, as those EVs need much less maintenance tasks... (But, we still have to keep recharging the batteries)

However, EVs need much less maintenance but definitely are not problem-free especially when they adopt some newer technologies!!! I think we're still only interested in Japanese brands even for EVs...

(Besides, EVs are not as fun as gas engine cars...)

PS: I think a few years later, my old bones may not be able to afford those car maintenance tasks anymore, even though those maintenance tasks are fairly easy!!!

Another bad news...

My daughter's 2010 M35X has the same problem as my son's 2007 G35S had!!! A cracked intake tube!!!

My daughter is about 600kms away from home now, but we decide NOT fixing the problem and let my daughter drive her old Nissan directly back to home, as the repair cost is TOO HIGH!!! (Over $900USD for only replace one intake tube!!!)

Hopefully, my daughter can make it!!! Go! Go! Nissan!!! (Like I said, for turboed cars, this problem will put the turboed cars into a limp mode and become undrivable!!!)

Thanks God!!! Except the cracked intake tube, everything looks good so far!!! (Of course, we still need to replace the tires and rear brake pads soon!!!)

Today I asked my son again "Do your car get better after the two cracked intake tubes are replaced???" He still responded "NOTHING CHANGED!!!" (Everything is the same including MPGs)

Maybe I just don't fix the problem for my daughter car, as this time there is only one tube cracked in my daughter car... (I'm just kidding. Of course, we'll fix the problem!!!)

PS: This also reminds me of my uncle who already passed away 15 years ago. When I was a little boy and watched my uncle changing the oil for his old Kawasaki motor bike, he told me with a weird smile.... "My bike doesn't really need oil to run. It can run even with some WATER!!!"

So these amazing Japanese cars still can run very fast even though their legs are slightly crippled!!!

Recently I'm a little out of luck!!! I also spent over $400USD in repairing my house A/C this week...

The A/C is still quite new and only 4 year old. The problem was a faulty relay. The situation became even worse. That faulty relay generated a short-cut state and caused a transformer in A/C control circuit inside the house blown. (Luckily, the blown transformer didn't set on fire in my house!!! So, I asked the mechanic to add a fuse for A/C control circuit.)

(Please be noted the weather in silicon valley is very different from Taiwan. We only run A/C from June to August and only run A/C from 5pm to 8pm!!! That's it. Actually we use heater more often than A/C!!!)

I think there're only several relays in my house A/C. However, there could be over 50 relays in a car. But, I only replaced ONE relay for my son's car 5 years ago!!! (Actually the faulty relay still worked intermittently. The solution was use my left foot to slightly kick the fuse panel as that relay was located in a fuse panel!!!)

I think the services from dealerships in USA are really JOKES!!!

A local Nissan dealer changes the coolant for my daughter's M35X. Guess what... They didn't follow the procedure to remove the air in the coolant system!!! So, the next day my daughter found the secondary coolant tank was almost EMPTY!!!

A local Lexus dealer also overfilled the engine oil almost TWO QUARTS in my current GSF!!! Believe it or not... I told them about that problem at the next oil change. Guess what... They made the same mistake AGAIN!!! (So, I had to use a vacuum pump to pump out the overfilled engine oil for my GSF EVERY TIME it was serviced in the Lexus dealer!!! What a joke!!!)

Believe it or not...

When My daughter asked that dealer why the coolant tank was empty, they said the radiator was leaking as an excuse and wanted my daughter to replace the radiator!!!

I seldom worked with any dealer except buying a car. (I usually maintain my cars by myself) Now, I understand the services from dealerships in USA are really DARK and EVIL!!!

In addition, now I don't feel confident my daughter's M35X could last for 20 years as many mechanics could ruin her car!!! (I cannot help her as she live far from home now!!!)
